"Eight" is one of the songs related to her age - she was 28 when this came out. She has also released songs for 23, 25 and moving into her 30s. It is talking about the loss of 3 of her friends (there is a lot of symbolism related to them in the mv). She has released several songs talking about loss. She is one of my favourite singers and actresses - she is incredibly talented. I would really recommend watching her performance of this from her "Golden Hour" concert.

Both songs have concert Live Clips worth seeing) that come off as positive and empowering (despite somber underlying content)… she has a history of thought provoking lyrics, lyrics/song mood/video that seem to be doing different things… a classic on this cognitive dissonance is “Ending Scene” MV, a simultaneous breakup song and sentimental journey that typically confuses at first watch, but would be nicely paired with duet version with V in her RUclips program “Palette”

IU - eight (Prod.&Feat. SUGA of BTS) Explained by a Korean- If you can, watch this explanatory video- how sad it is. She is a pure Artist- Singer, Actress, Song writer, producer. She is better in Live - i would recommend the Golden Hour Concert. My favorite one is "My Sea" - you will see how powerful voice she has. She is such an Artist that RollingStone Magazine put her in their "200 Greatest Singers of All Time". Only Two Korean are on that list - only female artist from Korea. Her life story inspires so many people. She was rejected by 20 Agencies before got one & she earned the title "Nation's Little Sister"- people called her that way. BTS's JangKook sang the song "Lost Child" in Supertar K Audition in Hybe - he such a fan boy of her since childhood, even now if you ask JK who is the No.1 singer/artist, he will reply it's IU.

'Love Wins All' is really about how others see those who are different. In the music video IU is mute, and as you worked out V is blind in the right eye from a previous encounter with the 'blocks'. IU is also damaged from her encounters with the 'blocks'. The blocks represent the haters, or those who can't or won't accept difference. The video camera is just a mechanism to show that love, or acceptance, sees through these differences. In the video the other people in the restaurant are all masked, representing the fact that most haters do so anonymously. To steal a line from Baby Monster (Ruka and Asa) in the song 'Woke up in Tokyo' - " "What you know ain't what we see". What others think they know isn't necessarily how others see things. I must have watched the music video 50 times at least. It gets me every time.

    Hey there a silent listener.
I love IU, the song eight is about relationsship, but in the Video are sybolism to friends of IU. Sulli, Goo Hara, and Jonghyun all thre passed away.
Jonghyun is portrayed as a lizard, reminiscent of his fondness for the Pokémon character Charmander. Sulli, who tragically passed away, is depicted as a white-dress-girl running through a forest. These symbolic references pay homage to their memory and add another layer of emotion to the song. I don´t remember in which way was Go Hara. But this Song was somthing to her friends. Its like the video is a letter to them.
Its so sad, that IU lost tree friends. I know that Sulli and Jonghyun committed suicid, but I´m not sure about Goo Hara.
So i hope it helps you
And to love wins all, the cube collected people who are not "correct", so she can not speak and he is blind one one eye. So this is the reason why the cube want them, to eleminate them.
Love your Reactions to TxT and IU, I hope some day you will react to A.C.E the most underrated group in Kpop. Also the Rose and Onewe are so good, both of them have more a Band-Style

Great reaction, but not unexpected. Our Queen has the gift of making grown men and women cry with her powerful voice and lyrics. Many of the newer gens like New Jeans explicitly say they listened to her when they were young and credit her with inspring them to become idols.
At 17 years in the brutal Kpop biz, IU is universially loved and respected. You've just barely scratched the surface of her incredible career as an award-winning singer/songwriter/producer AND actress (and that's not even counting Philantropist IU, who gives away millions each year to local charities, hospitals, and scholarships).
Many of her fans come to her from music, but I came through her incredible performances in the fantasy romance "Hotel Del Luna" where she's a 1400-year-old woman cursed to run a hotel for ghosts, and 180'd with the gritty contemporary "My Mister" where she's a tough cynical street rat that gets involved in a plot to sexually blackmail her boss. This one is always tough to watch because it's such a heartbreaking story and even harder now because her co-star got caught in a scandal and committed suicide, making the fourth person IU was close to that killed themselves.
In short, IU is a unique talent unto herself. Please continue your journey with her and us, you won't regret it...

    • @michaelmayo

@GingerT4U2 She is incredible, and I don't impress easily. I knew nothing about Kpop or Kdramas and only decided to check out Del Luna because it was fantasy and on Netflix, and to say I was blown away is an understatement. Like a lot of Newbies to Kpop, I went "Who is this Woman?" and discovered her incredible riches-to-rags-to-riches story where she lived with her brother and grannie is a small cold flat eating potatoes to survive while she struggled to build her career. She's never forgotten those dark days which is one of the reasons she donates so much money to local causes like elderly support, single mothers, and others.
From there I went to "My Mister" not knowing what to expect, and was bawling by the end of it. From there, I started checking out her music, was blown away by that, which then led me to Blackpink, (G)I-dle and others where I discovered an energy and creativity, much of it driven by smart, talented, humble but battle-hardened workaholic women who had survived years of training/competition and came out to make music and stories I'd never seen on this side of the world. We simply can't match them in the West and they wholeheartedly deserve every accolade they get.
So check out more of IU, then check out the astonishing (G)I-dle, which has a similiar story with scrappy Jeon Soyeon (singer/songwriter/producer/creative director/general musical genius), a woman ridiculed as too short, too ugly, and not talented enough, almost single-handedly assembling and building Idle into a creative powerhouse that's used its commercial success to push into subjects Kpop rarely ventures such as women's empowerment, gender roles, and even same-sex love; all, of course, musical Bangers. As a creative myself, I'm flat in awe of all of them, so I'll stop gushing and just say go check out "Hotel Del Luna" and have a box of tissues for the end. After that, you might hop over and react to "Hwaa" (Fire) and the iconic "Lion" by (G)I-dle. If they don't have you going "NOOOOOO! It's Over? I need more! Where's their next song?," I'll eat a lightstick.
Looking forwards to more reactions from you.

    • @michaelmayo
      @michaelmayo Месяц назад +4

@GingerT4U2 You're welcome. Without going into details, Kpop/dramas came at a less-than-happy time in my life, but it was just timing. I knew all the general stuff about it but always thought it would be bubble-gummy and was astonished to discover the Koreans had cleverly sucked up every musical genre there was and found a way to bounce it around and stitch it all together so you're never bored with a song. The production quality is always outstanding - I don't think I've ever heard a muddy mix on a ksong. The women are beautiful and can dance all of us into the ground. It was just my "HOLY SHIT!" moment since I'm an entertainment junkie starved for a long time. To touch briefly on Kdramas, I'm a writer so I know how hard it is to construct characters and a long story. Hwood, for various reasons, is just junk anymore and that's what I was used to.
Then I watched "Hotel Del Luna," and aside from just being knocked out at how beautiful IU was, I couldn't believe that here was a sixteen-hour story, with multiple characters, carried over multiple timelines, effortlessly going from goofy to completely heart-rending, and sticking the landing. There was real pain and depth to what could have been completely ridiculous if we'd done it. (Aside - in fact remake right were purchased here years ago. I doubt they'll ever do it.)
You've fallen down the rabbit hole. Welcome to Wonderland...

Hi I saw you shake your finger at me. Congratulations at being one of the only reviewers who didn’t turn off the camera after Love Wins All. Yes it’s very moving. It had widespread appeal and didn’t want you to miss it. It’s so beautiful. My first reaction too was “that’s love”.

I was so sad to learn about the story behind Eight as it didn't make much sense to me. Only after everyone started telling me about her friends, I re-watched it and it was so sad. I am a very empathetic person and I unfortunately (or fortunately) live myself into the emotion of songs. I didn't even have to read the lyrics to feel the song. I also don't feel any shame in crying in front of the camera (thus the camera stayed on) and the reason for this is I want to show who I am and I these songs give me happiness, joy or triggers my emotions. I want to be true to everyone who watches my videos. ☺

I heard you talk about the recent losses in your life. I didn’t mean to make you sadder. If it helps with the video, I saw some video of visitors to a friend who had recently passed. They walk up and talk to their friend like it’s an ordinary day . They said things like You know you still owe me 10 dollars. and We should go to that new chicken place you were telling me about.
I kind of like the idea of having a conversation like that. Eventually, once the grief gets smaller, I end up having those kinds of thoughts.
I’m very sensitive and sad, too. I’m not someone to find the happy songs. I tried to think of descriptions .
I hope these were good overall.
