  • Ablation therapy employs various physical treatments such as radio-frequency, microwaves, ethanol, and freezing (cryosurgery) to destroy tumour cells. It is rarely amenable to treatment of a primary pancreatic tumour, due to the proximity of thermally sensitive tissues like the duodenum, and common bile duct; however, it is often employed for the reduction of metastases, such as those in the liver. This session will educate participants on current practices of ablation therapy for the treatment of pancreatic cancer, and highlight ongoing research that will enhance the impact of this approach in the future.
