    I know you can’t see me (😂) but I’m here giving you a standing ovation for this very well prepared, presented and delivered video you provided. So informative and delivered in a no-BS format. Kudos to you Jay! 👍👏 One thing that I have seen in ‘marketing’ material is potential temperatures the solenoid may (?) reach ie: There is suggestion on Amazon that one vendor’s (CLSCEA) brand has the solenoid running at a temp of +/- 24C (using IR gun) while other brands may be as hot as 47C. Can you provide any feedback on those assertions? Did you have any concerns with the solenoid’s temperature on your FZONE 4L?

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  2 месяца назад

      @garage-guy207 - hey thanks for watching and coming by to leave your questions and nice comments , it is much appreciated. As to the temperature of the solenoid- Im not familiar with this marketing thing. What claims or how would the temp of the solenoid effect the unit or performance of the Co2? I have noticed that the box that houses the electronics where you plug in the wire to the solenoid gets warm to the touch. This box is a separate component from the actual solenoid its the black part of the assembly in my video, the actual solenoid is housed in the white area in that assembly and the 2 are held together by a metal clip on the sides 1 in the front and 1 in the back. To give you an answer to your question, I taped a high end digital thermostat used for HVAC to the hottest point I could find on that small black box and the read out topped out at 111 deg F, thats about 44 deg c. I dont know that this effects the function of this unit at all as it basically a door..- open and closed. is there a risk with the temperatures? Its warm to the touch , you could leave you hand there and not be burnt. Most hot tubs are hotter then this and I dont see any potential of melted plastics as those melting temps are much higher.. So I would be interested to know why this is being used as a factor? Hope this temp test helped your info. let me know what its for. ;)

      @@JayRockDoesStuff Thanks muchly for your prompt response! If any of your other commentors care to add their remarks - respecting components of their FZONE CO2 equipment (solenoid/electrical housing) being warmer than expected - would be appreciated. I can only surmise that the other vendor may be using high (to the touch) temperature reporting to favourably promote their product over their competitors. I’m in the process of re-entering the ‘aquarist’ world after having stepped away for the past 6 years and looking to incorporate CO2 dosing in my new 60gal planted setup.

    Seriously considering one of these.
    When the solenoid turns on in the morning, does the bubble rate largely follow the previous day? Or is there a rush of bubbles first thing whilst it equalises?

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  Месяц назад

      Hi Paul Thanks for coming by to watch and your questions. When the solenoid kicks on there is a rush of bubbles for about 1 second or less. I think its the pressure built up in the regulator and it releases that extra to begin with . With that said Im not sure if thats a bad thing or a good thing. But i can say Its not doing any harm in my tank with that initial 1 second blow off , if anything it fills the hose and primes it up . I dont notice a burst in the tank or anything like that when that goes off so i figure it just making up for whatever is missing in the tube. If your considering this over a traditional system , go with a traditional system . But if your looking at this as a beginner or someone who just wants to make Co2 or cant get a traditional fill then this is a great option. if you do decide to buy this use my link to help me out its free to do ! amzn.to/3BMaO0a

    is there a valve to adjust the co2 out pressure? I talking about the other CO2 gauge.

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the question . Its 1 stage regulator BUT hear me out... with DIY Co2 Im not sure Ive ever seen a 2 stage regulator that wasnt homemade. a working pressure adjustment adjust the pressure the regulator handles. In a diy system those pressures dont exceed 600 psi. so the regulator just puts it out on the higher end of things setting at almost 50 psi output. untill the pressure in the tank is below 50psi. meaning your due for a refill anyway and you dont need to adjust the working pressure. The needle valve adjust the OUTPUT pressure to your diffuser so you just need to figure out what your bubble count you need for your tank on THIS system is and you can either buy a co2 testing kit or use a co2 bubble inside your tank to measure. With that said the pressures inside a conventional liquid co2 system solely depends on temp. as the liquid warms it expands into a gas and those pressures can get up to like 1600 psi.. thats why you need a working pressure adjustment as 1600 psi would probably blow the regulator, needle valve, disc off the diffuser and your fish out the water. if that makes sense. IF your running a conventional system stick with it if you can get fills and can afford the system itself. DIY Co2 is aimed at people who can not get conventional system refills - remote living- people who like to tinker and people who are just getting into Co2. it sounds like your past the beginner stages BUt this system would Def work for you in a pinch if you couldn't get a fill or your regulator broke and you needed to span the time between equipment changes that sort of thing this system is a great back up and even fun to just run on a less serious tank for fun! Hope that helps answer your question and shed some light onto DIY Co2 - lemme know if i can help any further.

    Hi jay rock. I have the 4L kit. I have filled it two times so far and each time the tank has only gotten up to just under 200psi. I’m using quality ingredients, measuring accurately (600 citric/780 bs) with 900 ml of water. Getting the cap on quickly. I sprayed all connection points with soapy water to check for leaks and nothing. The bottle seems to hold pressure. The gauge stays where it is if I’m not using co2. I’m at a loss.

      @Nick_Gurr80 your Def coming up short for some reason. I would assume a leak too. Does the pressure hold after it gets to 200ish? If it holds try freezing the water into ice cubes as an experiment, this will make sure you get all the pressure you can because the reaction will only start after the ice unfreeze eliminating the possibility your to slow and the reaction is going off to fast before you get the lid on. Does that make sense?

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  7 месяцев назад

      Hey Ninjaflex, I think youll need to run a lil more then 1 bubble per second.. but that will also depend on your flow in your tank and how it disperses the Co2 if you have good flow around the tank 1 bubble might be sufficient. BUT to answer your question. MY tank literally just died from the day i made this video and i run 2-3 bubbles a sec. so assuming you could run 1 bubble and get the results you want id say between 3-4 months . so 3-4 time a year. it lasts quite a long time if you run it everyday for say 8 hours a day , and ill say theres been some days mine has been on for longer so you should def get 3 solid months from 1 fill for sure , 4 months + if you run it light. Hope that helps :) thanks for watching!

    at what point do you know to refill the tank? when the pressure is 0? If so, do you just untighten the cap off of the tank and do the citric acid + baking soda solution?

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thats a great question @rektful - and YES basically. Over the month or 2 or even 3 or 4 depending on your use .. youll see the gauges drop to 0 or close to 0 - More importantly you wont be able to put anymore Co2 into the tank at a stable level.. meaning your drops per sec are not constant. At that point- Disconnect the Co2 line at the bubble counter and open the valve all the way to let the rest of the Co2 out so the bottle is all the way empty of any gases . At that point you can disconnect the solenoid power cord and twist off the cap to empty and re-fill. Just make sure to clean the threading on the bottle really good and test fit the cap again to make sure the threads are smooth. Hope that helps. good luck!!

      @@JayRockDoesStuff 2 more questions:
      if there where a power outage, the solenoid doesnt get power which in turn co2 wont be injected to the tank, is this correct or wrong?
      2nd question, I'm pretty paranoid in the thought of co2 killing my fish, I've researched something called "End of tank dump" where co2 drops below a certain pressure where the regulator cannot even regulate. As a result in releases a huge burst of co2 at once which can gass out the fish. Is this a concern for this kit? Should I be worried about it?

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@rektful Sorry for the late reply- I had written a lengthily response right after you had asked this and You Tube Glitched and erased my entire response- I haven't had time to come back to this untill now. This is a great few questions and the fact your doing your own research before you get into this. Yes the power outage would turn OFF the Co2- this can be undone by removing the solenoid and attaching the bubble counter to the needle valve if you needed Co2 without power. The End of the Tank dump is a very real thing and im glad youve read about it. With that said- Ive never experienced dump in my Gens - but 2 things you can do to avoid this.. 1 pay attention to your levels- when it gets low dump it yourself and refill it so its a controlled dump and nothing is wasted. The other thing is the dump kills tanks that run it really lean - meaning they are running it to the brink before gassing out fish in general so the dump just send it over board. I run my Co2 on the lower end. so if my tank were to dump.. i dont think it would effect my tank to much. I haven't heard of any gens dumping so it might be isolated to the bigger regulators on a regular system. but always run on the side of caution. Hope this helps and answers your questions ;) Have an awesome weekend!!

The calculation in the video is for " Maximum " Co2 output for the ingredients to use them. the variable for you would be the system, Can the system handle max output or have they purposefully altered the ingredients for their system pressures. I would assume you have a pressure relief on a system that big?!?! You dont wanna play around with a 12l system thats a big tank and the reaction is gonna happen very fast. so make sure you have your ducks in a row before you filler up. Hope that helps you .

      Hello Meurlock!! Thanks for your comment and watching my video! I appreciate you. The recommended dose from the manufacture will create the reaction, BUT, There is material wasted that if calculated can be quickly solved. My method is for MAXIMUM reaction based on the material used. so Im getting close to as much of a reaction as the Sodium Bicarbonate and Citric acid can produce before it is rendered unusable to create the reaction anymore. • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  4 месяца назад

      @noahparsons7420 If I'm being honest, Ive never ran one on a tank that size but that would entirely depend on your flow in the tank and how well the Co2 takes. That's a bit big of a tank ,BUT. To better your chances you could get a inline diffuser but bare minimum you'll want a better diffuser and to get a reading on what it's gonna take you'll need a drop checker. The idea is for the tank to take up as much of the Co2 that it can before dissipating on the surface so getting a good flow across your plants with the Co2 will be your goal . I wish I could offer better advice but I don't have any experience running a gen in a tank that big.if this is s9mething your wanting to take seriously and If you do have access to getting a normal Co2 refill you might consider spending the extra and going to a traditional system . If this is something your wanting to learn and play with then a gen is gonna be great for you and I look forward to hearing what it took to feed your 75 and how much different that is from running a 40. Hello mister, i have a question. What if i don't want to use a timer and just close it and open it manually? Is it possible to skip the solenoid part and not install it at all or i still have to add it on the bottle?

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello @Tasos_ . Thanks for watching and great question . The answer is yes. If you would not like to use the solenoid the Bubble counter can connect directly to the needle valve And be controlled that way. However IF you choose to do that the input of Co2 will differ from day to day based on where your needle valve is. I would suggest timing your bubbles per second like a beat of a song, so you know your outputting the same amount each day. Hope this answers your question and helps you out!!

      @@JayRockDoesStuff Also i have another question. I found another Co2 sustem like this one but smaller with the bottle only 1 litre which is fine for me since i have only a 10 gallon planted tank. And it doesnt have the solenoid part and some other stuff that dont actually need but it also doesn't have a safery valve. And that's make me a bit worried. Is there a chance these things to explode or something? how important is the safety valve? Thank you again for helping me. You are amazing :)

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Tasos_ If im being honest with you - The safety valve In MY opinion is probably the most important thing on the unit. IF you want to run a Co2 without a safety valve I would suggest you lookin to another method Like Sugar and yeast in a 1 liter pop bottle and save yourself a ton of money on even buying a unit and just empty a pop bottle. hook a hose and diffuser. to it and it will produce Co2 and put it directly in your tank at a much slower level. Citric acid CO2 causes a reaction that disperses a gas at a high rate of speed into the canister and pressure is built very quickly. Without a safety valve you Risk an explosion from that pressure- a safty valve ensures that will never happen. Better Safe then sorry!! However... with that said. a 1 liter bottle will not last you as long as yould think or like. I would suggest you get the biggest bottle you can afford and have room for regardless of the size of tank you plan to run it on. One of the biggest detraction's from DIY Co2 is having to do refills to often and if you have a small tank you will find yourself running out of Co2 alot and that will turn you off from Co2 and not give your tank the best results because you will have days where your tank is not being ran because you need to refill over and over. I hope this help you understand more, please keep researching till you know what your getting into here and feel comfortable with it. I think its important to compare units to one another so you can make a good decision when you buy. I am very happy with the FZone gens i have been running for a few years now and would recommend them to you and i dont offer recommendations lightly. hope this helps you . :)

After 24h, I have 350psi inside the bottle. It seems to be high and over the green area. Is it a problem or not? I've also found where is the mistake between the 2 differents informations for the composition. If I am right, the 600/600 written of the top of the bottle is not gramm but liter. Can you confirm my work. Because it's clearly more simple to use the graduate glasses inspite of the weighted balance? Now I just need to connect the system in my tank and see if it's a good ;)

      @JayRockDoesStuff  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Christopher. thanks for the comments and questions and stopping by to watch! To Answer your questions, As long as your Pressure relief valve does not pop open you are ok on pressure, That valve will pop open if there becomes to much pressure in the tank. its ok if its over the green area - mine usually stops around 400 or a little after. The way weve set up the Acid and Sodium were getting a maximum reaction with the materials we put into the tank, so theres very little waisted material. your thought about the liters is incorrect- 600 liters would be about 159 gallons of material.. thats incredibly to much . IF you look in the instructions it will give you a different formula like 600/800 - so thus is the reason Ive used Science mole numbers to create the proper formula for maximum Co2 Production. Hope this helps you . Enjoy your Co2 Kit!

Id also take EXTRA care to not tip it or get any of the liquid inside near the regulator, not having the filter in there could be damaging. ITs really your choice at this point to either lose the fill and get it put in there to ensure your regulator doesn't get damaged or risk it and hope nothing happens and be able to use the fill.. im not sure theres a positive answer either way ...

    A couple things that I am finding highly frustrating with fzone co2 generation kit is 1) lack of detailed information online regarding regulator troubleshooting and Repair parts. Currently my safety valve is constantly leaking no matter what pressure it’s producing, so I am only getting about a week out of each fill at 1.5 bubbles for 8 hours. 2) solenoid. Is really Crap at least the generation of the model they put in my Box. It gets hot as F! With in seconds it’s at skin burn temps. 3) if it wasn’t for you tube creators putting out videos like this one we would be left in the dark. I think it’s a really poor business practice to have you tubers putting out more detailed videos about your products than you have. When you don’t include online manuals or easy to find links to speedy product support is another tell tale sign of a company in a whole, ethics, integrity, dependability, right down to what the work environment is probably like for the employees. Right now I am more on the side of recommending looking at other companies or just going out and buying your own dual stage regulator, cheap tank, bubble counter and solenoid. I have the 4 liter kit and in the instructions it says 600-800g citric acid + 600-800g sodium bicarbonate + 900-1200ml water = CO2. With other words you can put 600 till 800 grams of EACH inside the kit and not 600 A and 800 B like you say. Its pretty easy if you use the standard grams. but in theory it is possible to put 782 gram of both in the kit, only thing you need to do is work out the water volume for that mass.
