    Herrings are also very, very popular in Poland. Pickled herrings and fried fish are a must for Christmas Eve dinner when we eat fish instead of meat.

      Made pickled herring for the first time this past week. Thank you. Outstanding. For the future, is it necessary to remove the skin? Or can one also eat it with the skin?

    I found a big tub of salted herring in my local Polish shop and decided to pickle it overnight. I'm craving pickled herring but it will have to wait until this time tomorrow. I also added dill, a few cloves and one chopped up birdseye chilli. It should be good. I wish I had some sour dough bread to put it on. Maybe, once I've poured off the pickle juice, I'll add some sour cream.

    How long do they last in the fridge after being pickled like this? When I hear of pickled herring I think of surstromming, so I'm glad there is a milder version.

    • @AllasYummyFood
      @AllasYummyFood  9 лет назад

      MrCurry i think they will last several days, if you not using them i would keep them in salty water. But they will become more salty as well. This is a really mild version!

    • @AllasYummyFood
