    My fascination is boundless.
At the 6:20 - 8:50 segment, Sir Arthur's masterful description and in-depth translation of physiognomy is uncanny and singularly posh, in my opinion. Alongside Dickens, I consider ACD peerless in this respect.
I may be wrong but I find it irresistible to praise such knack.

Sir Arthur's powers of description defy the conventional and his technical sentience flows elegantly into what I call his eloquent audacity... which is hardly the norm for many writers of crime fiction or mystery (with few notable exceptions).
I have long deified Sherlock Holmes to a demi-god and considered A. C. D. as member of "royalty" in literature and yet, were it not for the net, I would never have discovered his supernatural mysteries which are now seemingly out of print (esp. here in the Philippines). How I wish British society never frowned upon ACD's career shift and involvement with the Society for Psychical Research... I admire him more for such openness despite being a physician and man of science. Perhaps, this is why he wrote "The Brown Hand".
Hats off to Sir Arthur... and a reverential Salaam to Mr. Simon Stanhope for his giftedness.
    Cheers 😉🍸

This is such a delightful story. I know James though ghosts should be malevolent but I love the stories where the ghost just needs a helping hand (in this case literally) to rest in peace. Another I like is Bone to His Bone by E. G. Swain, which I read aloud to the cats each Christmas Eve. I think you would be just right to do a reading of it.

What a variety of delightful and fascinating stories Arthur Conan Doyle wrote - and a fine start, with this, to the selection of unfamiliar ones you have narrated, here, with characteristic skill and charm. Nice absent-minded scientist detail (for a teaser rather than a spoiler)! But I wonder just how things 'worked' "aboard ship"? - perhaps my imagination of state-room splendor on long voyages is just too limited...

Of course in private life, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was much interested in psychic research. We know him as the creator of the world's most famous consulting detective - Sherlock Holmes....but his stories about the 'eerie' are equally engaging. @G Vivo Thank you for alerting me. However it's a bit of a mystery... I've re-listened myself and have also asked a friend to do so separately, and we cannot hear any glitches or missing sections. It would seem it may be a problem at the "receiver" end, perhaps a browser or app fault, or something to do with the local internet connection at the time. The only way I can think to test this theory, if you should wish to listen again, please can you note the times/sections affected and let me know.... Then if you listen again and see if the glitch happens at the same point. If it doesn't, or if it happens in different places on re-listening, that may help to diagnose what the cause is. Appreciate your comments as ever
