I just tried with a garbage bag and duct tape. Shit water started leaking out After the air pushed the valve in the tank open and then kept letting water in. Then the water loosened the tape and created leaks.

IT WORKS!!! I’ve just had to use this method in my own bathroom. IT WORKS!!
You need to use at least 2 layers and make certain the back end is sealed. Hold the edge down with your hand while you push the wrap down into the toilet bowl.
I have a good plunger, but I can’t use it right now because I have a shoulder injury. So this was an excellent solution.
By the way, if your plunger only cost $2, you’re probably using the wrong kind of plunger. There are plungers for sinks and tubs, and plungers for toilets.

THIS REALLY WORKED! thank you. Just some extra tips I found good for doing it:
    1. I removed the lid from the toilet so it's easier to place the saran wrap all around. It's just 2 plastic nuts.
    2. I opened the toilet's tank and taped the overflow pipe so the air pressure would be much higher.
    3. Previously, I added dish soap and boiling water to the bowl so the toilet walls get slippery and easier to slide away through the pipes the "reason of clogged".

It's a lot less messy if you don't flush as part of the operation, before the clog is gone. Adding a flush to whatever disgusting contents are already in there just slowly fills up the air space (plus could send things over the edge), and the air is what you're trying to use to push against the clog.
Just wrap it with several layers to help it resist tearing and to seal the 'seams' in the middle, and push down briskly a couple of times on the cling wrap, using both hands to direct more of the air down the drain (plus help prevent tears in the wrap), and this should move enough of the air trapped in the bowl down the drain.
The pushes must be very quick, not a slow 'mooshing', to help offset the inevitable air leakage, which happens not only around the cling wrap, but also up through the holes under the rim that lead back to the tank (i.e., the path the water takes to go into the bowl). A full tank will help hold down the flapper, but you can also do the extra steps of having a helper hold that down with a broomstick, or even tape over the overflow pipe.
But those extra steps usually aren't necessary. A perfect leak-proof air seal isn't possible, either with this method or a plunger pushing its trapped air or water down (which as you know, also never perfectly fits the bottom of the bowl). Luckily, a perfect seal isn't necessary either -- you're just looking to briskly push against the clog with enough force to dislodge it.

This worked SO well for me! At first I was so scared the water was going to overflow and then my bathroom floor would be covered in water but that wasn’t the case!! Instead I flushed the toilet two or three times (but not all at once) and then it finally worked!! I think a tip is to make sure no air will escape and that the Saran Wrap is tightly wrapped over it. This worked for me THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Saved me so much more time than looking for a plunger or the plastic bag and toilet cleaning scrub thing!! 😄

It was the ONLY thing that unclogged my toilet. I was desperate for two days and tried almost everything, plunger, hot water, dish soap, but to no avail.
I did it with the cling wrap and it worked perfectly! One tip I discovered: it's useful to use tape mainly close to the lid to secure the cling wrap in place and step on it with one foot. This way all the pressure and air will be trapped.
In my case the water wasn't going up so much, but it wasn't coming down as fast as it should. Simply amazing. Thanks

Glad Wrap is not the same as Saran Wrap. The original Saran Wrap was made from a totally different kind of plastic film, that was thicker, stronger, with way better cling, yet easier to handle, and with over 3000 times better blocking of oxygen to keep food fresher longer.

  • @RealRuler2112
    @RealRuler2112 7 лет назад +17

What use is your toilet if it clogs with that little bit of TP? How on earth do you poop in it???
I believe what is happening is that the saran wrap seals around the top of the toilet and when it's flushed, water is introduced. Since the air cannot get out around the rim, it forces the saran wrap up and then compresses slightly. When you press down on the saran wrap, there's slightly more downward pressure put on the plug than produced by the weight of the water alone. (Not much though, since air compresses so easily.) If it's a very minor plug, this *might* help push it through. It's very unlikely though IMO.
The reason I feel this way is because unfortunately, toilets are designed so that the plumbing gets smaller as it goes until it hits the soil pipe going through the floor. This means that downward pressure is the opposite of what you want in this application. You want downward pressure in sinks to force everything through as they're plumbed straight and drawing the plug back isn't going to do a whole heck of a lot. Toilets, you want an upward pressure on the clog so that it is drawn up where it has room to break up; downward pressure usually makes it worse unless it's a very minor clog.
The nice thing about plungers is that they work both ways - push it down hard for use in sinks to create a downward pressure and pull up hard when using it in toilets to create an upward pressure. If you don't have a plunger, just go buy one - they're not expensive. =)
It would be interesting to run another test, this time clogging the toilet twice using the same number of sheets of TP to clog it. On the first, use this hack. On the other, try flushing intermittently and see how many it takes before it clears. As others have noted, TP breaks up pretty easy & simply sitting in water for a period of time will eventually clear a clog composed entirely of TP.

I am familiar with the dish soap and hot boiling water (which I used in the past and it works) I had a clogged toilet for a little over a week. The tried and true (dish soap & hot water) didn't seem to work. It was so much water and it basically filled to the top. I have never heard of this hack but I can say that it works!! I still think the soap and water could of contribute to it as well. I had just enough cling wrap (food lion brand) to wrap my toilet. I placed the cling wrap, flushed (water was all over the floor 🤦🏽‍♀️😳) Removed some of the water from the toilet and before I knew it the water was going down the toilet.😃🙌🏽 Thank you for sharing this video!

Thanks 1000 TIMES to ''As Seen On Social Media''. I used Shrink wrap which is used to wrap the shop cages or pallet. It really did wonder. It took only 2 min to clear the clog in the toilet. People please dont just dislike the video without trying or watching the video. Please watch the video fully and try and it will surely work. I just pressed only twice while the pressure buildup and all clear. May be try to remove the toilet seat before you unclog, because that will give you more space to cover with the wrap without letting air out. Thanks.

Cut the fat end off a plastic bottle 1.25-1.5L leave the lid on, use it as a plunger 🪠

My toilet was clogged and I tried soap and two different plungers and it didnt work. Tried the saran wrap, failed once. Removed it and rewrap tighter with tape on the inner part where the seat was and was more forceful to push when it inflated and it worked!

Looks like it was the pressure from the amount of water. That's what we did in college. No plunger. Fill it and hope it goes down lol

I think this is good if you're in a pinch, but I'd rather just stick with a classic plunger.
