I love it. I would have probably rigged something up with a small microcontroller and relays as I didn't think of this method, but I like this solution and will consider this myself in the future :)

Thanks. This is a great dryer but wife likes everything turned up to 13 (apart from my Guitar Amp). She sets the dial to max time and wanders off on a 4Kw dryer. Now she gets 45 min maximum daytime or 7P/kwH overnight with phantom start button pressed at 2AM.

    You clever devil :-D
It sounds like the economy 7 idea from the days when my parents were still around.
There was a special box that did the switching, i would imagine it was a clock and a contactor of sorts.
It was on from 2 to 7.
I live alone so i have a 8 watt led bulb and this laptop.
The bosch serie4 washing machine does a decent job (unlike the pile of crap beko).
So you like us lol, i'm as nutty as a squirrels belly :-D
I have a tumble dryer but i don't use it (not that mad).
If ihad to wire up a tumble dryer, some kind of mix of 555 timers and rotary plug in the wall timer would do. (555 does the button press in monostable mode).
    Yes im nasty and cheap,
Dam dont i yapp a lot lol.

Yh the problem with our dryer is you have to be there to press the start button. Now it is a phantom start!! Scares the shit out of the mice at 2AM!!

so the transformer is outputting 12v ac? and the timers are ok with this even though they are spec’d for 24v?

Yes they work fine.. But I should not have shown the wife the emergency override timer button.....

Most of it Chinesium. Where do you think nearly all the electrical switches and fuses sold in the UK is manufactured? The time switches were designed by a company in Soest Germany.

Could just use a Switchbot to hit the switch

    • @razenby
      @razenby  2 года назад +1

I thought about that. This method prevents the wife from using it during the day. (Unless I relent and tell her about the timed override). All she has to do it put the washing in and set the run timer on the control panel and shut the door. Then it scares the crap out of the mice at 2AM and the washing is dry in the morning.. Night rate 7P / Day rate 36p / kwh.
