Very cool. I was in many of those places in the late 1980's, a generation later than the film. Equipment was different, but the mission was the same.

7350th ABG Tempelhof in the late 80s. Was the best duty in the USAF for me. Anyone have any idea when this was filmed? I swear we still had all that 1960s tech seen here in use when The Wall came down in ‘89.

Spent 3 years of my life playing those cold war games. 8th I.D. Baumholder, what a joke and waste of time it all was. I swear we were just there to prop up the German economy and no one took anything serious. People have asked me years later what is was like to serve in Germany during the 80's, my answer was, blurry, because we were always drunk.

You would have had a better time in the Marine Corps defending the far east (Japan,PI,Australia,S.Korea)
in those years.Six years mid 80's into the early 90's.The beer was just as plentiful as Germany
and the girls just couldn't be beat.

I was stationed in the FRG in the mid-80s (when Reagan brought respect back to the US). As much as I detest war, it appears we need to send at least 100,000 troops & airmen back to Germany or even to Poland before Putin decides he wants more territory. History repeats itself, but nobody listens.

Paul Mares Evil occurs when good men do nothing...or something like that. It's a sad fact that peace through strength probably does prevent war. Right now, NATO forces in Europe could not stop any Russian military advance for more territory. Putin will get away with as much as he can until someone makes the risks too high. Unfortunate, but true.
