Effin hell - he even mixed the salt water by true percentage rather than just volumetricly. Like the acrylic rod to prevent any potential galvanic effects as well. Solid science, my friend!
The result with Tetra Gun Grease matches my own. My Glock 19's barrel rusted just inside the slide at the muzzle end from IWB carry (in addition to pitting on several points on the slide itself). When I cycled the slide, the white grease was stained with the rust color. The sweat (salt) punched through the Tenifer while it was coated with Tetra! I've had stainless guns that were treated with various gun oils and rust preventatives prior to carry, and I would wipe it down again just before heading out, and by the time I got back home in a few hours (5 ish), the area around the grip panels was pitted and rust colored. The slide never rusted on that one, but it did on my highly rust resistant Glocks. The Glock receivers, of course, do not rust, though the slide inserts would be potentially vulnerable (they never did, though).
Thank you for confirming what I already suspected. I would suggest a head to head with Eezox and Guardian L.P., which is the only product I have ever seen perform better than Eezox in another video with an almost identical test.
why didnt you use any other grease products besides tetra? (tetra works great if not in salt. for some reason salinity greatly affects its performance) just curious because in my similiar tests, ive found that almost all grease products outperform oils because oils tend to wash away/break down quicker than the grease does. i performed a similiar test dpraying 1 time a day with water for 1st month then 1 spray a day with salt water for another month. all grease outperformed oils (besides tetra wich was great until salt). the hoppes 9 w/t3 faired very well though. outers, ammshell 30, red hitemp grease, lucas redNtacky, all were better as corrosive protectant than the oils were. i dont have a facility to test for actual lubricity so couldnt begin to judge on that. woulda liked more grease products but great vid overall.
EEZOX is good to use on plastics, but you should not be soaking with EEZOX, or applying a heavy layer. The primary usage on plastic is simply for a quick cleaning as no lubrication is needed on plastic surfaces. On metal surfaces, EEZOX will clean, lubricate, and protect from oxidation. As far as incompatible materials, you should not use EEZOX to clean rubber. Accidental contact is fine, but prolonged exposure can cause the rubber surface to degrade.
Okay but: 1. How relevant is salt spray corrosion? Not many battles will take place in an environment similar to that. 2. How much steel is in an AR style rifle? Most long term parts are aluminum. The BCG and trigger would be the most affected but I struggle to see how much some corrosion would matter on them. The barrel would be the worst affected but you cant really lube a chamber =/ I feel like a test such as this should be weighted at around 15% of the reason you select one lube over another for an AR15. Not 100%.
id be curious to know how froglube, lpx & ballistol would fair in this evaluation. I've used ballistol clp on my firearms & tools since the 90s. I like that its non toxic & cfc free. I use ballistol on leather, wood, metal, rubber, etc. Its a mineral oil formula that's been it Europe for many years. lpx from Mpro7 has been popular with us armed forces. lpx & gunzilla. I like froglube too. It's non toxic & can prevent rust.
WD-40 was invented as a rust inhibitor so it must work at least under some conditions. Do you believe there may be a difference between your test and real world conditions that would cause the "no protection" result?
So, what your saying is that for long term storage eezox is the best. But how is it's lubricity properties compared to a good motor oil or other "top" gun oils?
+BubkaTube There are no instructions on how to build the chamber. The main elements are a non-metallic housing and hangers, a misting system, and a heater to maintain the temperature.
you got a new sub :), also I'm wondering if those product: penetrol, Danish oil and minwax poly wipe on polyurethane could be tested as I've seen similar test where they perform. Thanks a lot for the great work !!!
Awesome, I read good things about EEZOX, on par with Militec-1, however I didnt see the latter in the review. I'd like to see Corrosion-X, Boeshield, Alpha Grease, Liberty Lubricant.
i did NOT see kimball midwest Torq CB and Froglube and wd-40-Ltci ????????????? what!? The CLP IS SHIT compared to WD-40 Ltci and Ltci is SHIT compared to froglube so WHAAATTTT?

I don't know what some of those words mean but it sounds cool.
Excellent work in this video. Informative, concise, no bs, and quick. Good job!
Thanks for taking the time to perform this test and posting very informative as to what will protect your fire arms.

You are one salty bastard lol.

I like Ezzox but it is brutal on plastic; prefer Frog Lube or Seal 1 CLP plus. Great test!

Yes , I think I may have got some on my limbsaver recoil pad and now it looks a melted face
Nice thorough method, but where's Ballistol?
hell yeah, eezox is my #1

Heard people treat guns before leaving them in there safe untouched for a decade and not a spot of rust! Eezox is excellent the more I hear about it.
Wish you’d have included Ballistol, but still a really well done test.
I didn't see CRC 3-36, or MX4 Lanox. My 2 personal favorites
I've never found a damn thing on crc 336, even though its got an aviation version too. Just ACF50 everywhere..
Really should have added Corrosion-X to this.. Nothing comes close..
Yeah I know I was hoping to see corrosion x tested
Yup I cannot understand why they left it out.
I've seen Eezox beat it in several of these tests....
Dennis1359 Wrong. Guardian LP and Eezox both outperformed it in another test done exactly this way. Sorry but you're wrong.

Now I would like to know the lubricating properties of eezox.
I would like to see you test petroleum jelly in the same way.
I live in Arizona...I would like to see a slick test.
Hello, in your video, you use a DYF chamber? do you have a project how made this chamber? ?Could you send instructions how to make?
+BubkaTube There are no instructions on how to build the chamber. The main elements are a non-metallic housing and hangers, a misting system, and a heater to maintain the temperature.
I've many of these Gun Oil Test Videos & REM OIL has Never performed well in any of them.
you got a new sub :), also I'm wondering if those product: penetrol, Danish oil and minwax poly wipe on polyurethane could be tested as I've seen similar test where they perform. Thanks a lot for the great work !!!

Would love to have seen ballistol
How made to return the fog by the plastic pipe up to the room(chamber) of corrosion?
what type of metal was used?
+James L. All plates were cut from the same piece of 2" wide x 1/8" thick 4140 hot rolled steel flat bar
Hopped lube isn't meant to prevent rust. U should've used regular hoppes 9
Hey, we actually make some of the best corrosion inhibitor on the market, would you be interested in testing it?
Great video. If only the music wasn't that annoying...
Need Ballistol.
Sorry missed the part where you show the Eezox plate. Pff.

Joachim Johan You're an idiot. Test results don't lie.
