INTRODUCTION TO BASIC HYMN PLAYING AND INTERPRETATION

The presentation was delivered by Abiodun Ojo, at the quarterly meeting and continuous development programme of the Guild of Organists of Nigeria held online on May 11, 2024. His presentation demonstrates how Organists can use registrations, tempo, word/text painting, phrasing, articulation, chordal integrity and tunes to create moods that enhance hymn singing and meaning-making in worship. Mr. Ojo, is the Director of Music and Organist at Hoare's Memorial Methodist Church, Yaba, Lagos and currently serves as the training and development Coordinator of the Guild.
