It looks so dirty, thats not how they originally did in India! Also the Organic cotton mattresses are supposed to be made thin so that they can be moved out (which can not be done with heavy thick ones) to get aired out and to get sun yearly(at least) to kill germs etc of all/most types. When these mattresses become thin with pressure of years we used to take them to the shop who made it to get them fluffy again- they would look new again! They would open up the mattress, fluff it and sew them back I think they would wash the cotton and cloth again also. The process is called - Pinjaai. Now you can see instead of throwing away old ones and keep buying new ones they are “meant” to stay with family for several decades(or lifetime?).
