  • Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock defeated Republican football star Herschel Walker on Tuesday in Georgia’s Senate runoff election, NBC News projects, handing President Joe Biden and his party a key win. Warnock’s victory will give Democrats an outright majority in the Senate after two years under a 50-50 divide, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes. Steve Kornacki discusses Warnock's win.

Although,she is too much of a lady,so intelligent and politically astute that,she will not state why she never conceeded her first election. She didn't concede because she knew that the office of Governor of Georgia had been craft fully stolen from her. She knew that their were slickster,trickster individuals who through many Republican legal appearing schemes orchestrated what appeared to be her defeat.For her to make such a charge without "beyond a shadow of a doubt" evidence may have ruined her political future. But she knew the numbers and the facts enough to know that the results did not compute. Kemp and his partners in crime had committed an almost perfect voting crime. Therefore Stacey maintained her dignity and preserved her political future., We still have not heard the last of Stacey Abrams of Georgia. I can only tolerate Korrnacki if I close my eyes and listen, and even then it's difficult. The election results are really pretty simple to explain. Even in Georgia, a state where stupid runs deep and wide, there are more sensible people then illogical people, and this time the sensible people showed up to vote, and were able to make their votes count and their voices heard despite concerted efforts by the state of Georgia to marginalize people who were likely to vote for Democrats. Besides which, county by county election reporting might make some sense for elections involving representatives to Congress, but not senators, because senators are elected statewide and thankfully not limited to the voters of any one county.

      I totally agree. Democrats should not rest on this win and instead should focus on why their voters failed to show up in the general election.
      GA like AZ (and a few other states) are trending away from Republicans in the fact that Democratic constituencies are large and growing however those voters are still not showing up. It has been a nationwide problem for some time and Democrats still believe that not embracing change and updating their image of who their actual constituents are is going to continue to cost them. It’s why they’ve lost since the ‘90s. 2016 was the best example of Democrats losing not Republicans winning. Almost the opposite of this most recent election.

But that mindset has changed over the years, hence Dems taking back control of the HOR and Senate in 2018, retaining the Senate in 2022, and only losing less than 8/9 seats in the HOR. Dems are waking up. This is why Republicans will get worse with gerrymandering, voter suppression, etc. When Dems turn out, Republicans lose. It's going to be interesting to see how 2024 works out. Dems might take back the House but may lose Senate seats. Only time will tell. However, no one expected Biden to have the Senate for all four years of his term and a slim loss of the HOR.

  • @drwisdom1
    @drwisdom1 Год назад +5

    I have been voting since 1974. I had to go to my old junior high school and stand in a voting line, but it was inside going down the hallway. But as I got older the places I voted in didn't have long lines, either because the system was efficient or there weren't that many voters. By the late 1990s I lived where they used paper ballots and you insert them in to lock box scanners. That kind of system allows an unlimited number of simultaneous voters, unlike voting machines where voters have to queue up, so there was never a line or wasted time. Then we moved to Colorado where we get our ballots in the mail and leisurely fill them out on the dining room table, making it super easy. Mail in ballots also give you the time to research the amendments that employ deceptive wording so you don't vote the wrong way. When there are long lines at voting machines you can't do that because you rush out of courtesy to all the people behind you.
    But when it comes to voting, Georgia is still using archaic systems from the 1960s. They force people to stand in unnecessary long lines outside in hot Summer and cold Winter. That punishment pushes away the casual voters so only the motivated show up. Even Georgia's early voting imposes long lines. In that archaic situation the last thing you want is for your voters to wait until election day to stand in the longest lines possible, maybe in bad weather. But that is the current Trump and Republican voting strategy!
    My hypothesis about why Georgia uses voting systems that make voters stand in long lines is that they have become accustomed to massive Atlanta traffic jams so they think that is the way everything is supposed to be.
