One of the wonderful things that has come out of the aftermath of Hurricane Helene is the community that has formed around that disaster. I live about 4 hours away, but have many friends who have talked about the power of community. Reach out to your neighbors, bake cookies and deliver them to people on your street, host a potluck outside as weather permits. My son is doing lots of relief work in the affected area. He says, and I agree, "I don't ask or care who someone voted for. These people are hurting and and I here to help." I think building community should be about establishing relationships now, because we are likely to all need one another shortly."

Presently I’m focused on 3 things: hosting holiday parties and get-togethers with friends and allies we always seem to put off in the past; planting, planting, and PLANTING more fruit trees, more perennials, more nut trees, more medicinals for friends, family and others to use to beg, barter, or steal in the future for things we may need; and lastly, reading a book called “We Refuse: A Forceful History of Black Resistance” by Kellie Carter Jackson.

I am disconnected from most of my neighbors, only know a few names and occasionally say hi in passing. Even though I've lived in the same house my whole life with the exception of college. It's hard to start the process, I'm not even sure what steps to take. I don't feel it would be well received to knock on doors for the most part. I have been making the effort to show up to local events more often, and this has led me to a few new connections/potential friendships, though not with immediate neighbors.

When you get a phone that is ONLY used for your biz you can write it off. At least you can now. No telling what laws will change.
TY for the reminder. I really need a new phone. This one barely supports the RUclips studio app

Thanks for uploading this. I will take more than just the local community to get through this. One of my friends has sold every thing and is moving out of the country. Feli from Germany did a video about the White Rose Leaflets for 1942 Germany that seems to apply today. They have been translated to English and with very little modification could be sent out again.

I live in CT and it's Trump country. I want to love my neighbors. Ignore the issues that separate us and move on? It's difficult to let it go and get happy.

speaking of community in Portland, do you still host community events? I live in the area and am trying to build those connections as quickly as I can. I own a little bit of land up on the Olympic peninsula and am interested in providing food and shelter to those who will soon be in need. Also, I've got a Nokia G22 phone I'd be happy to give you; I bought it without realizing it doesn't work on American networks--but if it's connected to wifi, it should be able to upload your videos.

I wonder if you hop in to a library WiFi connection if your uploads would work. Libraries have a greater bandwidth and it could be the size of the files need greater bandwidth.
