- Among the classic roster of the South Branch Valley railroad in Moorefield, WV, is a classic Chessie System GP9. This locomotive was acting as a helper on a grain train we chased southbound to Moorefield.
Chessie System old engines still roll on thanks to CSX and preservers of history. We thank you all for helping preserve the chessie cat
csx should paint one of their locomotives in the Chessie paint scheme with the Kitten.
LONG LIVE THE CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great catches! I'm glad to see you back in action!
Good job, just make sure you stay safe while you're out
That's beautiful!
Beautiful sight.
How that locomotive survived in Chessie colors that long?!
Awesome catch!
Near my little. Town in Ohio we got one of there cabooses
Where I need it in my life
Is it just me, or is it ironic that the hoppers are CSX or ex-CSX hoppers?
They are CSX, but yea lol. Usually on weekends, CSX brings a loaded grain express in to them just like the NS with RJ Corman in Cresson, PA.
The West Virginia State Rail Authority has no intention of rebuilding its South Branch Valley EMD GP locomotives in the EMD locomotive rebuild program with 710 ECO Engine type rebuilding them in 2310hp EMD GP23 ECO or even EMD GP33 ECO 3300hp EPA TIer 3 (ideal due to the grade stretches on the South Branch line)?
I like how their other equipment is painted in a scheme reminiscent of B&O too so the whole train kinda looks like it came through a portal from 1972.
Right? I can't believe I've never heard about this gemstone of a shortline.
i miss chessie system
All of that is just Beautiful!
Omg I feel like a kid again!!! Meow..Which way is she traveling? Towards Cumberland? Or down to VA way? I haven't been to Moe field in like 25 yrs. Hard to remember track route to.
Marissa Awesome The train was heading to Moorefield.
After seeing this video, i now have to see this in person. Amazing video! Thanks for sharing!
Wow that's so awesome something you don't see everyday. Lots of those units were either scrapped or refurbished to today's fra requirements.
Is that original Chessie paint WOW??
That's my question to... Or is it some historical job
Ok the fact that it exists is incredible. The fact that it is a GP9 is jaw dropping.
#100 used to be owned by my local shortline. Sat in a deadline for years
This put a smile on my face 🙂
