    Here are the Direct links to the complement ink that I think looks best with this:

    The guy who makes these inks is my kind of nerd. He did that color change from green to blue on purpose to be a total history and science geek. Thank you for doing all these tests so that I can have Noodler’s inks decoded for me without get ink on my counters.

      I also have a huge appreciation for the history he ties into the naming of his inks. History is one of my favorite topics to read on.

      @@animula6908 I just don't think the viewers here would be interested in the books I read enough for me to do book reviews... I just try to stay in my very narrow lane here. Not to say I wouldn't go some different directions in the future, I would just need to figure out a fully integrated way to do it.

    It was good happenstance that I had just seen this before Dromgoole’s Pens in Houston let me know they were out of stock of Marine Green. I had chosen that color to go into my “bulletproof RBG” combination - Empire Red, Liberty’s Elysium, and Green Marine. So I substituted General of the Armies based on your review - which had been lurking in the back of my mind. So thank you for disseminating them smarticles on the inks of the world!

    It's wild how different this ink looks on different websites...on Amazon it looks like a gorgeous dark teal color (which I'm dying to find or make a waterproof version of) and on Goulet it looks like a darker blue/grey with a bit of green. I had NO idea it was this bright of a green!! And like you said, if there was one, especially if waterproof, that would go back and forth between that blue and green I'd buy loads of it!! I write and draw a lot, and address envelopes for my watercolor cards for friends and family so I'd like it to be fine if it got water on it during shipping. And aqua, dark teal..any nice blue/green is my favorite color so I want to have it for my signature color to use in my pen..I don't have any special pens, just a jinhao x750 (but think i desperately need a fine nib as the medium it came with is a bit thick for regular writing for me, though I don't want it to be scratchy, not sure how to know)
    and a Duke fude nib for drawing.
    I thought of buying (only once work gets better and we can afford food and our mortgage of course) the noodlers polar blue and polar green and mixing my own waterproof color. But, $30 is out of the question right now and probably for a while :/ more surgeries and more money outgoing then incoming, like for a lot of people, so, for now I just dream and plan :)
    Thanks for this though because I had it saved to buy but the bright green isn't the color I thought it was so I'll keep looking:)

      Color correction of the pic and video is very important. I try to do the best I can.
      The goblet nibs fit into your Jinhao pen with no issues.
      Saving money is one of the things done here as it lets you know when you don't want an ink as much as when you do.

      @@AnInkGuy yup, that's why its awesome that you do these videos and why I subscribed ;) I really appreciate it for sure!!
      Oh yea, the color correction thing has got to be hard...and why colors look so different from different places. It can be hard to fully know the color. But with your detailed information I can get a great idea!!
      Yes, its definitely in my wishlist on Goulet!!! Is it real smooth to write with...the fine? A friend gave me a pen that said it was fine but wrote at least as thick as my medium 750 and super scratchy. But the 750 m is smooth and nice, just a bit too thick for letters and cards :)
      Thanks again for everything you do!!!! Have a great week!!

      Some times an ink is just to aggressive to use a bunch. That is why samples are a good way to try new inks.

    So I watered this one down too, and it is doing some shading between about a teal and a light denim-ish blue. Not quite to that tracing paper standard, but I'm going to try adding a bit of ink once I've used some more of it in my pen and see how the shading changes.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  3 года назад +1

      It will be interesting to hear if you get it ro perform like on the tracing paper.

      @@AnInkGuy From what I've seen so far in my sample, I'd probably guess if you tried 3:1 ink:water, you'll get some pretty interesting shading between about that denim blue and a seafoam color. It might be 4:1 or 2:1, but somewhere around that area should get you something worth having. This color's one I might buy a bottle of tbh.

      @@somekid3893 I might go for a sample again just to try out the dilutions.

    • @somekid3893
      @somekid3893 3 года назад +1

      @@AnInkGuy If you do, I recommend mixing the ink and water about a day before putting it in your pens. For some reason the dilutions I've done have started really light and then settled out to something darker after a day or so, after which the color stays pretty static.

    • @somekid3893
      @somekid3893 3 года назад

      Having stuck with that roughly 2:1 mixture for a little while now (and with a whole bottle instead of just a sample), it's stayed pretty static somewhere between blue and teal.
      That said, it looks completely different than the green or blue advertised, it changes color a little after a few days on the page (but rarely makes it all the way to that denim blue), and every mix the color is just ever so slightly different.
      I'd love to see if you get this ink again what the dilutions you come up with look like.
      A great compliment color to the colors I'm getting, btw, is a purple like Noodler's Purple Heart. The page just feels... fruity with them both on.

    Any follow up on those old writing samples? They should be blue now. I believe General of the Armies is meant to change color over time, and the most shocking part is that it’s not an iron gall ink... so there is no iron oxidation going on!!! 🤯

    • @AnInkGuy

      I haven't seen is turning blue looking back at them. they look almost the same as when I did the writing samples in the video.
      I hadn't heard anything about it aging to blue. I will need to look into that.

      @@mikafoxx2717 Perhaps. I don't test for light fastness.

    • @somekid3893
      @somekid3893 3 года назад

      I've had it change colors a little -- and it only sort of seems to be due to lightfastness. I mix it with water, though, which might change it a little bit. My older writing, whether I expose it to light much or not, seems to fade to some fixed level between green and blue which depends on the mix. Every time I refill my pen, it seems to fade to a certain level that's similar but not always exactly the same.
      Perhaps I'll have to try purposely exposing it to UV for a while and see what happens
