  • Isoyama Benzaiten is said to have been founded by Prince Fujiwara Hidesato in the 2nd year of the Celestial Calendar (948). The Bentendo temple on the mountainside is a three-story building with a rich view. The current main shrine was rebuilt during the Kamakura period, and has been carefully inherited as the only cultural property in the area that conveys the architectural beauty of the past called "kaketsukuri" that does not use nails. In the surrounding area, it is enshrined in ponds and rivers as a water god with a deep connection to water, and there are many myths related to snakes.
The spring water of Deryuhara Bentenike is a designated natural monument of Tochigi Prefecture and is counted as one of the 100 best waters in Japan certified by the Ministry of the Environment. It is created by fresh water gushing out of a cave formed by dissolving limestone in the paleozoic layer, and the amount of spring water is constant at 2,400 (cubic meters / day) throughout the year, and the water temperature is 16 degrees Celsius.
