That is will be a great adaptation for this building. Great job.

I was inside this building when they had an open house sometime during the mid 1980s. I remember standing at the edge of the deep pits. There were offices upstairs inside the main entrance that still had paperwork on them. Very memorable experience.
Mainly because Ontario Hydro stopped using it in the early '70s and Niagara Parks only got it in the early 2000's. By then the place was in terrible condition from 30 years of abandonment, the several sub-levels underneath the building in particular are really bad because the air is constantly moist. I would imagine Niagara Parks realized that restoring the building for public use would have been way too costly, especially when the Canadian Niagara Power plant up the street was in much better condition since it was active until the late 90's and had been kept in mothballed condition after that. Thankfully they did an amazing job restoring that plant and the tailrace tunnel underneath it.
Likely not since the renovation is at lesser $200M and it will be the only 5 star hotel in the region. Regardless, exciting and hopefully, prosperous for the area.
Great idea. Hopefully some rooms will be affordable for middle class folks. Great idea that the main area will be available for the general public. We always admired this beautiful building and were sad it was closed. Wonderful to hear it will have a Renaissance.
Thats cool actually. Growing up I always went to Niagara falls every summer with the family. I always got to see this building and was in awe of its architecture. I would totally stay here. Niagara falls holds a close place in my heart as I had good times with Family here back in the day.
There's nothing Canadian about Niagra Falls these days... Foreign Travellers will think they came to Bangladesh when they arrive at the front desk... This "Transformation" is already a failure in my eyes.

The Toronto power building is a beautiful building, I never understood why no one did anything with it
Taa Daa 🎉

Just make sure to make it accessible to the majority of people... not priced out of everyone's reach but the ultra wealthy.
Likely though Pearle will make it a very expensive hotel - too much for me to stay at.
The ultra wealthy will pay for the $200 million dollar renovation

Oh how much money are you investing in this project?
Don’t worry, the govt will pay for it to house migrants.

There's a middle class? I know of only the rich and peasants
No words who will lease the property, It should stay in hands of the Ontario Province to serve public interest.

Awesome news.
A great idea, but would the river not be eroding away the bank there? And so close to the Falls!! YIKES!!
And where exactly will the parking be?
Hope it’s not too noisy. But a real good idea.
Great spot
loving this govt. great idea.
Yay! More jobs for temporary foreign workers!

Ok, but what if they need water? Bet no one's thought of that yet...
NPC is making a huge mistake in turning this into a hotel. It is better as a historical landmark. The Falls have enough hotels already.
👍
Average AirBnB.
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 enjoy staying here for 2000/night
