What is Convergence?
Different types of computerized systems used to be "siloed" in their own environments. They used different types of cable and protocols for communications.
Convergence allows different types of devices to use standard computer networking components and protocols
By using Convergence different types of systems can now talk to each other
Power Over Ethernet provides power for devices over Cat5 cable
Either the Switch or a Power Over Ethernet Injector is used to provide power
Quality of Service allows you to prioritize the importance of network traffic
Parallel Networks are used when you are concerned one type of network equipment will degrade the performance of other equipment. An example is putting VoIP on it's own LAN to prevent file traffic from causing jitter.
Engineers are trying to make devices more intelligent so that less data is put on the network. By making devices more intelligent less communication has to occur with main servers.

There's plenty of content there and even online courses but you have to sign up for their Academy, which isn't free I believe. There's also a ton of CCNA and CCENT videos on youtube. Most important thing is you'll have to buy some gear like couple of routers and switches to practice on, unless you have access to those at work or something.

Eli,if you put all your device on parallel networks that means each network have its own traffic and own bandwidth? if that's the case you shouldn't worry about QoS and traffic on the network, right?
what switches provide power? Is the tech standard? Compatibility issues?
Okay. Cabling is single now. But, two differnet devices can't connect to single wire. Then how is it working?

OK so convergence at first was introduced to reduce cabling by connecting to one switch but then parallel networking was introduced so that they don't get overlapped and different switched were put up in network for every different line of devices. So ULTIMATELY, we again have to use different CAT wires (which ultimately increase cabling) to connect to different switches. What we are actually trying do here?

Basically we are trying to eliminate the need for specific hardware and cables for certain applications. You used to have to have different kinds of cables for things like cameras and telephones to communicate data across them. Through convergence, we are only using one type of hardware protocol to take care of these services (Ethernet, routers, switches etc.).
But sir we already allocate the bandwidth to each user.... so is it still possible that a user dominates over the allocated bandwidth of the other user????

Eli, seriously! You talk in so many network circles I got dizzy and threw up, twice, because I couldn't shut you off fast enough. So we split very thing up on parallel networks after spending $$$$ to connect it all together? What does that cost? 3x$$$ Any expense installing proprietary cabling far outweighs troubleshooting multiple layers of Ethernet switch issues. You obviously were a trunk slamming integrator. Most proprietary systems have a network link that allows all the nice interoperation features you mention. So why contribute to the network sprawl? Just more infrastructure to maintain and added security frailities.
From a networking perspective convergence occurs when a protocol is at rest or in a normal state and not in an active state. This explanation from this video is not accurate.
