This game's soundtrack is probably better than most game soundtracks right now.

I remember when this came out and I was polarized by the music and visuals

I always found it funny just how differently this game looks, sounds, and feels from the other games in the franchise. I played a ton of PS1 Ridge Racer games, then I played some later ones like PSP, 7, and 3D, and when I came to this one on PS2 it almost felt like it was made by another developer.
Not that that's a bad thing, though. This game was dope. Also wonder what the robot voice is saying.

It’s the same as with its counterpart Tekken 4, I think they were wanting to showcase the ps2 abilities and were wanting to do something fresh. Actually ace combat 4 has this aswell, maybe the creative teams at Namco were just at their peaks here?

@@benburris4735 Maybe. But I like how in this game while it still has the “on-rails” drifting, it does so in a way that makes the cars feel heavy and weighty. Almost like it’s simulating the cars a bit.

@@JackFoxtrotEDM Yeah its the only one that does it too, feels less "canned" which is what you just said :D.
Always ironic how the drift cars had tons of grip and the grip cars basically made you start a drift halfway down the straight to clear the corners. That pink Danver had serious speed if you could manage the rear end!

@@benburris4735 Well I mean it days in the description: “Gut-wrenching acceleration at the expense of all-around functionality.”
I was expecting it to put up a fight but not really since it just yeets into the walls. Then you have the Crinale which said for the duel that it had tricks up its sleeve, but in reality it was just being a homie and stopping/slowing down and turning on its hazards if you got too far behind it.

@@JackFoxtrotEDM Actually this is the 'Devil' personality in Crinale which is intentional by making fun of the slow player behind it especially at the last lap which happens in RR7.
While Angelus in RR7 does spins multiple 360s at the finish line if it is ahead of you as it's way to celebrate it's victory, and then you've got Monstrous, that car always flexes it's triple nitrous deployment at a random times or sometimes intentional on a certain locations around Rave City Riverfront as a way to confuse you into shooting nitrous at the wrong times to mess up your chances for the ideal timings of nitrous shots.

It wouldn't be a Namco racer without a lady model in front of the cars. And dope tunes like this.
