People do realize, mortal kombat 1 is a completely new story line. Liu Kang made an entirely new story line. This isn’t gonna be exactly like the original.
I don’t mind cyrax and sektor being women. I think the main issues with this game is that it’s not as good as mortal kombat 11 it lacks combos. You literally cannot do combos unless with kameo characters and even those are incredibly repetitive. But my biggest gripe is that there was mention of other titans in the realm of mortal kombat by kronika in Mk11 and instead of showing us these other titans. They are going the easy route and just making characters become titans. Havok is cool and all but having him become a “titan” or whatever you want to call him was just underwhelming and lazy

They honestly missed big time on bringing hotaru in. Cleric of chaos vs guardian of order finale, with them winning and it turning out that having hotaru wasn't all that good after all.

I’ve ALWAYS LOVED Mortal Kombat and I’m intrigued with the CGI. However, I am very underwhelmed and disappointed by MK1. I grew so sick of hearing the word “Chaos” and where the heck were all the MK Fatalities? There were very few and they were just barely even noticeable. I actually don’t mind this storyline but why did producers gender swap the characters? That just didn’t make any sense. MK1 is the weakest one yet and I’m not happy about it. I feel gypped.

I don't think the story is mostly devs playing with a lot of interesting what-ifs. I don't think this'll ultimately be any sort of canon. The Chaos (Khaos?) Maze was pretty sweet - excessive gore and Havik doesn't give a F until the end.
When your writers can barely spell the names and have to reuse the same story because they don't have any real ideas, gotta pretend to be special because you race and gender swap existing characters.

The only way to make sure a franchise does not die with a generation is to market B characters along with A list characters, the more popularity goes round the larger the fan base and the larger the generational spread and survival of a brand. They were fishing to see if they could discover new fan favorites, May franchises try it although it's not always successful. That's how we got Harley quin , doctor doom , the teen titans , and the original sector and crax and of course the real fan favorite nob sabot.
