I don't half size down but I do like the lock at the 5th eyelet like you have it but I don't skip the 6th eyelet so that the lace lock button doesn't doesn't rub directly on the 3m tongue and mark it up. Good tutorial.
Youre right about the half size down. I had the 2011 metallic 5 in a size 10.5 when im a true 11, i bought a 2016 pair of metallic 5s in an 11 and those too have extra room, they still fit good though

I always thought it was silly to not tie your shoes and just have them sliding around. Your lacing preference was not bad but personally I would have actually tied with rabbit ears

I do something similar but after I get to the top i run the excess lace thru the back of the lace lock n let em hang out the front.
Just took about 75% of ya style and added 25% of my sauce to it 😂💯
