I used to live on my parent's farm. The next farm west of them sold ten years ago, and there was an old rusty car from the 1940's that didn't run. A guy in town had stored it on the place for years. He was one of these who was always 'going to fix it up, and restore it', but only had enough ambition to buy the piece of junk, but nothing beyond that. So the new person who had bought the neighbor's farm, phoned the guy in town and told him to get that car off the place by May 31st (of that year) because he had a scrap iron collection outfit coming in during June to clean the place up. In September the guy from town showed up for his old car, to then learn that it had been run over with a D-6R Cat the second week of June, dumped into an end dump trailer, and by now (Sept) was probably run through a shredder.
I sold a horse trailer to a gentleman who was serving in the military. He asked me before he bought the item if would be okay if I could hold it until he got back stateside and I told him that would be fine. Roughly 8 months later he picked up the trailer and gave me a really nice basket of meats. It all depends on the person.
Send him a certified letter giving him 30 days to pick up the tractors. If he doesn't show up cut your losses call the scrap dealer. Salvage what cash you can out of the situation. Make every future sale come with a 30 day removal requirement.
I’ve had Toro 5xi garden tractors since 2012, as they multiply I now have 3 usable tractors and 2 parts tractors. Them along lots of attachments and parts from other tractors, a Dixie Chopper 50”, my 5x10 trailer and my 2nd Ford Ranger all are in private storage on an old farm. I still have lots of projects I’d like to finish but the property owner lady is 85 and using a Walker. My mom who I share an apartment with is 88 and no spring chicken. November I decided it’s time to sell most of it. I’m 58 and I’ve had Lyme since the early 80’s, diagnosed in 2013. A person just has to know their limits. I still have my Lionel train collection. Problem right now is it’s the worst time to the year to sell lawn equipment and parts.
I would tell the buyer times up, you have just forfeited the tractors, and liquidate them however you see fit. 3 years is way to long to hold something. Maybe in the auction or sales rules you could specify the time limit for an item to be picked up and if not picked up in that time period the item will be resold.
sold a car years ago.guy paid in full, didnt show for months...seeked legal advice and was told I must keep in the same condition. That was in Canada. Maybe different if one puts on the bill of sale ..it becomes property of the seller if not removed in i.e. 3 months?
Sell 'em......that guy went out on a limb to buy them and was trying to just flip them and his buyers fell through and is now singing "Gloom, despair and agony on me... Deep dark depression, Excessive misery.....If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all....Gloom, despair and agony on me...."
People mistake your kindness for weakness and I think at this point he forfeited those tractors so go ahead and resell them. If I were you the policy would be payment in full at time of purchase and you have one month to pick up or it'll be storage fees weekly and after 2 months they forfeit their purchase and don't give any titles until they're picked up
Well at this point I’d have them up for sale. I knew a guy that was a wheeler dealer and he’d buy stuff and leave it wherever it was in hopes he could turn a buck on it and not have to touch it.
Dave I agree with you enough is enough. If it's left for over a year I would say they are not going to come and get them. I would call the guy or if you have his address send him a registered letter explaining that he has so many days to pick them up or you are going to sell them to someone else.
THREE YEARS? Yeah you can't let them take advantage of your kindless like that. Time to make contracts with lot storage fees and and abandonment clause. You're kind enough to take payments for your tractors as it is, let alone them still taking up your space THREE YEARS LATER. Yeah, crap happens as you said but if it was me I'd find a way to get the tractors home or consider it a loss as you said.
I would love to buy stuff clear across the nation but then reality strikes and i think it through. Having it shipped is pricey let alone trusting the person on the other end. Friend just did it and got a good deal and it all went well but he was nervous until it actually showed up. Ive got a few stories going the other way.
I guess i have never understood... Why buy something if you don't have the means to move it, or don't intent to arrange pickup within a week. I have seen this at farm sales and auctions, auction houses, and household sales. It just doesn't make sense. Pick up your acquisitions or surrender them.
Where i live all you have to do is put a mechanics lean on it then they have 30 days to pay all money owed against them and picked up or they are are forfeited
Move them to your storage yard and bill him every year for a $1000 one option. Option 2 just resell them, seems like a hand shake agreement so move on. It will be a long time before buyer comes to terms with a to far purchase. I there was a written agreement at time of sale well that might change things, you might be bound by it in terms of something ending in small claims court. If not then move on …..quickly
I sell hay often times farmers call want to buy everything come over write 1 big check then leave hay sits in my sheds all year its not mine so i call them fucking scream into the phone they discover im not nice at all & come over. The dealership sales guys ive dealt with know me know my rocky clay soil so they always talked me into buying small tractors under 130hp wear down fast that's what they want when i bought the 2470case on my own case dealership was so mad WOULD NOT sell me filters
Sell it. I had a jerk playing the I’ll have the money Fri Monday next week on a $100.00 demo car. And had him at my house for a couple hours every day. Never seen any money. I ended up giving th junk to someone else. And they had it gone in 2 hours:. Screw that you want it come get it. Or get hold of a storage company and have them pay them .
After all this time, I would sell them to who really wants it, and can come pick them up. This long a time, there is no excuse, it is their loss, and your gain. People will take advantage of the good guys, even in this business. As we always used to say where I grew up, "Money talks, and bullshit walks"
One guy refused to resell a motorbike wich he didnt came to pick up for 10 years. So my friend said or u resell it ( to me ) for a good price or i charge u 10 years of storage fee. So he sold it

He’s the exception sadly
After 3 years, just tell the guy "too bad", and sell them to whomever comes forward with money and transportation!
Send him a certified letter giving him 30 days to pick up the tractors. If he doesn't show up cut your losses call the scrap dealer. Salvage what cash you can out of the situation. Make every future sale come with a 30 day removal requirement.
just start billing him every month for storage lol

One think I learned about business is thanks is poor pay

I wish I was closer, because I would buy the old A
Send a guy a registered letter stating that He has 90 days to pick up the tractors or you're going to be selling that's it your problems over😊
I buy at Auctions
24 hrs to remove what I purchased or the sale is VOID.
That should be your policy
I really enjoy this channel!

What system do auctions use to get rid of equipment after they are sold at auction?
Auction give you a set time to pick it up or it will get sold and if sells for less it is your loss
Gonna stop by the lot on a trip up that way here in a couple months.

Check the obituaries where he's from. His bad luck may have finally run out.
Well at this point I’d have them up for sale. I knew a guy that was a wheeler dealer and he’d buy stuff and leave it wherever it was in hopes he could turn a buck on it and not have to touch it.
How much for the John Deere A ?

Sell them end of story 👍🏻🇺🇸
It’s been both ways for me. I give up after 1 year The bad luck genie follows me everywhere😵💫
I would say calling your landlord out as a "little two year old" is not the wisest thing. Otherwise sell the tractors and tell the guy to pound sand.
Yeah you are right I got a little heated there I thought when Daniel was editing he would probably leave that part out I guess not
he is a bit anal lol, but so am I. He gets on his soapbox plenty often

How much would you take for the John Deere a
Nice guys finish last.
That tractors are yours to sell plus he will still owe you storage fees after that.
here's an idea, if you buy it pay for it ! and i don't store anything for anyone! business is business!
I guess i have never understood...

I don't blame you one bit
If you don't get your stuff at auction yard in a year they will sell it again

Sell them, guy has had plenty of time to come get them, I would list them right away someone will take them.
I've been there.I don't blame you get Them out of there
What do you want for the A and the D?
Sell it. I had a jerk playing the I’ll have the money Fri Monday next week on a $100.00 demo car. And had him at my house for a couple hours every day. Never seen any money. Sell them.. stand your ground.. 👍 4 years is way too long, in my opinion..
