Love this. Coming to feel this is genuinely one of the best YT channels for this type of content - often I'll skim videos and try and get a couple of nuggets of advice but this is a really great combination of practical, actionable advice and good stuff to do with mentality. Too often I think the content out there is vague, either a little too naively positive or goes into super harsh either 'git gud' or doom merchant mentality, which can get stressful. I like that this is tailored to juniors as well, rather than the cliche now of assuming everyone can have this ready-made network that'll hand them opportunities before even getting into software in the first place (even if it's great to build this up over time). Loads of (realistic) positivity here! I definitely over-invested emotionally in a couple of opportunities and got burned by them, which on top of other pressures didn't serve me well, takes more to bounce back from those. So the point about an abundance mentality is helpful for sure. Also great point acknowledging the competition/number of applicants straight after a job posting going up, which can seem demoralising but also misleading - just focusing on your own experience, weakspots, and preparation are so key. Apparently I can't write short comments haha - but thankyou.
Thank you very much for this video. I’m in the middle of job searching and I’m losing hope already. Without experience, nobody is going to give you even an interview, it’s very tough to enter this industry. But this video is giving me direction and I hope I can make it! Thank you again!❤
Thank you so much for watching! Don’t lose hope. Apply everywhere you think you might be a good fit even if it’s not a company you thought you’d be working at.
I started learning the basics of programming in Python. You know that learning is not easy and requires time and effort. Do you advise me to learn programming or will I not find a job and will work hard for nothing?
