I think after using more really nice palettes I think using the worst possible palette could be an amazingly fun video! Spaff-8 was made on lospec as a challenge to make the worst possible palette, and I imagine it could be a fun way to push oneself. lospec.com/palette-list/spaff-8

I like how the engine flame/exhaust matches the color palette of another ship for each of them! Great work as always

Haha Thanks! Yeah the names were a late addition, and I'm actually kinda surprised with how fun and unique those turned out - gonna have to do more like that in the future :D

Seems you didn't intend it. but the bottom of the second ship, the Dragon, has almost a skull design. Definitely helps with that "bad guy" vibe.

The individual squares are pretty easy to draw, yeah; it's putting them all together that becomes the difficult part 😅

so if 3 pixels wide is as wide as an adult person standing and thats 40cm
then if 3 is equal to 40 then the spaceships are 45/3*40, about 6 meters wide and thick/tall
Now I want to design some spaceships!
Btw, these ships remind of this fun 2D spaceship dogfighting game called Star Control II. It had a ton of cool ships (my favorite designs are the Chmmr Avatar and the Thraddash Torch, if you want to look at some, go here: wiki.uqm.stack.nl/List_of_ships ).
Would be very cool if you animated them doind a barrel roll, haha! Btw, how do you record a timelapse of your work in photoshop?
Love your work man. Not sure if it's because I'm watching so early the video is not fully processed yet or maybe you used a different recording method but some parts seem to antialias weirdly. Also do you think you could try your hand at some top-down magic-ky stuff? I'm trying to come up with some of my own and I'm feeling kinda stuck. Thanks and much love!
