I rescued a baby Palawan Pangolin. He was the most gentle of all my wildlife animals. They used to be so common and we didn't have so many ants and termites. Now without these sweet creatures, ants and termites are a plague to us.
Thank the millions of Asians who ignorantly think their scales have magical healing properties when they're made up of the same stuff that makes up our own fingernails.
I'd argue Sandslash is closer to being a hedgehog, while Sandshrew is the pangolin. From scales (mostly for defence), to spikes (defence and offence). But I'm fine either way. At last I know what Gamefreak's inspiration was!
When I was in second grade pangolins were my favorite animal and I had a fantasy about having one as a pet. That was all based on one picture I saw in a book, and I've never seen video of one before, so thanks.
Omg, sameeeeee I want to have a Pangolin as a pet, and maybe even start breeding them and let some go back to a safe wild area to breed and Pangolins can get out of that endangered list.
One of the most endangered wild species in the world, in Indian it is protected under wildlife protection act 1972 SCHEDULE 1, as equal to Lions and tigers.. In our Gir forest India many pangolins are there but ppl are not so aware about it's nature. Though pangolins are much more safe in this forest area than anywhere else.
To be fair China is very responsible for this problem, and I'm Chinese. Sure the racist comments are overboard, but the police actually found trucks with hundreds of frozen pangolins in it...
they are really endangered, back then in my country they are very common animal, even my father could find it in river town near forest, yet now none of them can be found in my town
Mammals are pretty crazy. We have some that have scales, some lay eggs, some can swim very deep in the ocean filled with terrifying creatures you can't see until it's too late.
0:20 66 Million Years? That's at the end of the Cretaceous Period & just 1 Million Years earlier before Dinosaurs became Extinct. Like from the 3 Horned Triceratops & the Ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex. Plus, So it is true, Pangolins are one of the many ancient modern Animals around today. Among the others were Sharks, Rays, Coelacanths, Turtles including Tortoise, Tuataras, Crocodiles, Iguanas, Monitors, Ratites, Vultures, River Dolphins, Armadillos, Anteaters & Rhinos. Do Elephants count? (Depressed Sigh) But like Elephants & Rhinos, Pangolins are being hunted for their Scales. Protect the Endangered Species! Especially those that are ancient looking.
I know someone who desperately wanted a dinosaur. After convincing her these little creatures don't carry leprosy, she was ecstatic to discover pets all over the new piece of property. They're also not a nuisance to cattle or equines because they don't dig.holes straight down. They burrow. The only way to save them is to feed the interest of our littles.
Y'all's asking why this channel isn't more famous, but their fame is rising, so are the comments and hate. I wish I could do more for the pangolin, but atm all I can do is spread awareness and knowledge. Also the pangolin is most notably in SE Asia.
Actually there is already an organization which only focuses on raising and saving these animals. They have man as guardians who raise them and take care of them
chipette I know they're not related. They are last of the armored mammals though. I wasn't sure what classifies as a "scale" Some parts of the internet says an armadillos scutes are scales, even though they don't look that scaly.
it's probably what those are made out of...since Armadillo's are more like leathery armor shell but for the Pangolin's, their's is made out of the same material as nails and hair.
scutes are formed on the dermis and are bony with a covering of keratin. scales are formed in the epidermis and are composed solely of keratin. so they actually are two very different things and one could say they are analogous structures. I hope this helps:)
Armadillos information..............The armour is formed by plates of dermal bone covered in relatively small, overlapping epidermal scales called "scutes", composed of bone with a covering of horn. Most species have rigid shields over the shoulders and hips, with a number of bands separated by flexible skin covering the back and flanks. Additional armour covers the top of the head, the upper parts of the limbs, and the tail. The underside of the animal is never armoured, and is simply covered with soft skin and fur.[8]
When you define "scale" it is stated that each of the small, thin horny or bony plates protecting the skin of fish and reptiles, typically overlapping one another. directly from google search and wiki. So in my opinion an Armadillo is quite "scaled" aswell...... "scute" is generally applied specifically to an Armadillo and it's anatomy, I've heard it for a crocodile aswell once, When you define "scute" it is stated: a thickened horny or bony plate on a turtle's shell or on the back of a crocodile, stegosaurus, etc.
The question is: why do some humans choose to stay misinformed? How is it that we are in the 2020's, and ppl still believe in grinded down rhino horns and pangolin scales? Why do some believe in a flat earth and that vaccines are bad? How can pseudo sciences like these still exist? That is the real question.
Cubius Blockus let me, sir, tell you about invasive species. Basically, if we make a wrong move and introduce a new species to a different continent, the whole place goes wack, example, theres an island where crabs get eaten alive by invasive ants,

I live in China and in recent years the government have been trying to stop people from buying pangolin's scales. There is punishment by law if you purchase or smuggle scales into China. The other day I saw a huge ass advertising in the metro about this and also about Elephant's husks.
The moment that I saw this beautiful creature I guessed that asswipe humans were driving them to extinction for their scales. Too many damn times that's how it is.
Yet there still hasn't been any outright ban on consumption/sale of these in parts of the world :3 Hence demand hasn't decrease despite its fallen population
Idk why ppl in the comments are only angry at the Chinese when they weren't even mentioned in the video? As if illegal animal poaching and trading doesn't happen all around the world.
Linds Tee They weren't mentioned but there's been numerous news reports recently that mentioned the massive captures made by the Chinese of these poor animals.
It does happen all over the world, but in this case, the Chinese are largely to blame. The video said pangolins are thought to have healing properties with no evidence to back that up, so we know they aren't being killed for Western medicine. Chinese medicine is the biggest group that uses animals for healing without scientific evidence, especially endangered ones, and it was in the news, they're also a delicacy in China and Vietnam
There is another Pangolins video in the same series that documents the effect poaching is having on their numbers. It specifically mentions poaching for the Chinese market. The reason it's an issue is it is not sustainable in the numbers they are being poached (just like the rhinos and elephants).
it looks like a Pine cone because of how it's scales are placed. I didn't mean it in a bad way. I think the little guy is adorable ^-^ besides, pine cones are cool looking!
