Hey James, this is Robert from Idaho and I was behind you in your last sun valley video (2019) when you filmed the bug going 253 mph before you ran off to do your 209 mph run and I was on the left of the finish clock tent in this video (again in a baseball hat) and all of us at the finish line thought you were well over 200 mph on your Bugatti run. We were all trying to come up with reasons why it registered low at 191. The prevailing theory was maybe the purple wrap had something to do with it. Either way it was awesome to meet you at the car show with my wife and son Branson and to see you safely run again this year. Hope to see you again next year and make it into another video
Even still, speedometers are inaccurate. They often read around 7-10 MPH off at around 200 MPH. So if his speedo said 213, I think around 203-206, and then he lifted, and the GPS trapped him when his speed read 198-201.

That car would, the wing is the indicator. The wing is the natural brake. Car seems to have a coil or something in the firing off, Maybe the fuel mixed? Did you get all the 91 out before the 100 was added? If not the computer would have read the 91 and nerfed it’s self?
My bet is the camber of that slight turn was enough to trigger programmed safeties. Which is why it does about 250 rather than the 283 the last version of the veyron did.

@@Ch00k3n Nah man, they [Ferrari] lost those trademark rights [to the iconic 250 gto] - go read up on it my friend, it was pretty big news at the time. They only maintain the shapes trademark for toys and model cars now (and I believe they own the name now too '250 GTO'). Hence why 250 replicas have been seen and produced - including this one. You can turn and still be in top speed mode. it is only after turning the steering wheel 90 degrees that top speed mode disengages, which I dont think he did. Also, under some road conditions top speed mode will disengage and that road was pretty trash
@@MattB90 road conditions don’t affect the car it’s either the turning radius or if the abs is still engaged or the stabilizer or something like that lol but when can clearly hear him say that the TOP SPEED mode was disengaged right when he turned 👍

The steering is restricted, and the car is lowered even further." also "There are a few catches in the procedure that will make it hard to perform a top-speed run on public roads. Once the Veyron exceeds 35 mph, if you turn the steering wheel more than 90 degrees, or so much as touch the brakes, the car's configuration reverts to the handling mode." so that's that
i guess no because it was a minor turn and infact Bugatti's test track also has a bit of turn i guess so its some issue in the computer which might have detected some prob in the turbos and would gave disengaged it
Yeah it was definitely the turn.. i remember when they first came out one of the reviewers mentioned if the steering wheel is turned more than a certain amount it disengages to ensure grip through corners. Their home test circuit has a turn but its banked so very minimal wheel turning needed.
