I came here after watching (reading now) The Power of the Dog. The film truly transmits an appreciation for working with raw hide to produce lassos. It also shows the beauty of the old west.

It will, it can only operate for money- one day even the novelty won't even be worth keeping these places going- we can always be inspired by these things now though and pass on what we know to those willing!

Nice way of life!! The hat reminds me the spanish hat and the use of spanish words in the cowboy world, such as corral, riata, mecate, lasso, cinches and others, make me think that the roots cames from the mexicans vaqueros from 19 century,

I like how you stretched the skin with the rope, I always have trouble with pinning because it holds so much moisture.. really nice video.

I'd really love to see how you cut the entire hide to make the ribbon, is it just a spiral shape?

Why don't you use rawhide glue instead of grease to braid? Wouldn't be easier? Hide glue makes the tongs slide easy and keep them very tied after you pull them.

Muy chévere las sogas pero sacrificar un becerro para hacerlo no me parece lo mejor
