God, I'm so sick of art "competitions". We have enough trouble just getting our work out into the world and most of us work in isolation with no recognition at all, but we work non the less. Making a competition out of everything just makes for more back stabbing and useless "I'm better than you are" scenario's. It reminds me of the official Salon of the French when the Impressionists started. Nothing was seen as art unless it had the official stamp of approval. Horse patooey!
I totally agree . This art competition stuff has been in the last 27 years or so. It's so silly, how can you have a winner when it comes to art. It's a total racket people are profitting from the entry fees. In the 60s and 70s you never heard of anything like a competition.
Hate to say it..this particular Organization is VERY "Political" They tend to choose artists who are the Whos who and artists from the big schools..Also this year they had "winning paintings " that were not really portraits but figurative works..
