Hey man it’s funny I ran across this video since I watched you fish practically all day we where there lol! I was in the white boat dragging with my family! Glad to see you achieved what you where going for! But I gota tell you that red meat and fat makes the meat taste bad! You gota trim the hell outa spoonbill steaks and I like soaking it in salt water for a few days. Just my 2 cents on cleaning. But a good way to also cook it is strip it into shrimp size strips and cook it in a crab boil just like you would shrimp. Hope you have a good trip next year try going the 3-4th week next time there seems to be way more fish in the holes you where fishing at that time. First weekend of April is usually killer. Had fun watching your video wished I woulda seen me trollin by with 8 fish hangin off the boat though lol!
Also unless you head down to Oklahoma and live scope to release then it’s going to be very hard for you to find spoonbill without current in Missouri since the only reason you catch them that time of year is because they are traveling up “river” which was the original Osage river branch of the lake to go to the nesting grounds Truman which are now cut off by Truman dam. Might try Warsaw or Truman but I think you will always find them trying to find a place to lay eggs where water flow is during Missouri snagging season.
That was awesome! I’m glad the rod served you well, and yes, that is the largest fish ever caught on one of my rods! I don’t know much about paddle fish, and I certainly didn’t know they were good table fare. That’s a lot of meat for you and yours from 3 fish!
Nice video. As a life long paddlefisherman from the upper Missouri River area, it’s not walleye, but it’s decent vittles. Nice catch on the 80 #’r, congrats on that. Crazy how you’re allowed to fish em from boats down there. And so many you’re allowed to keep. Up here they allow you 1 per season with a total of 1000 fish to be caught before the season is shut down. Any questions about them, I’d be glad to answer to the best of my knowledge. Badass dude!
That was awsome! Reminds me of snagging schooling fish down in Florida, when I was younger. Thanks for showing the fillets and actually cooking a fatty. It looked really tastey.
Learned a lot about techniques of trapping from your other channel. Hoped to see more information about how you were able to track fish with the scope and knowing when you jog and when not to jig.
Good on you, man. Holy crap! I suck at fishing. Can’t cast more than like 4 times without getting lures stuck (from the bank) and never catch anything. Dog goes crazy and pretty much ruins the experience, too (cries & barks constantly because he wants in the water and to chase the lure). I plan on getting better but to say that I’m a beginner is an understatement. I’ll learn, though. I’m in Missouri. Just got back from a 3.5 day solo camping trip. Good times. Cool to see you doing this stuff along with the trapping etc. You definitely put the work in! Awesome boat and video overall
I found your trapping channel last fall which btw thanks for everything you do there it’s by far the most informative and educational channel for trapping on the internet period! I started watching your fishing channel in March and it is much the same 👍 Anyway I also enjoy cat fishing but am relatively new to it. I was wondering what you recommend for equipment, rod and reels, line and hooks etc? I will be fishing for channel cats, flat heads and blues. Thanks!
Bien buen trabajo
Awesome
Cant mess with them paddlefish in Louisiana .
That's WAY better then just snag and hope!! 👍👍👍

Well you did a great job. Knowing your Live Scope definitely payed off.
Great video man I'll never get to chase one of those fish but it's great to watch you do it
Enjoyed the video. I really like the catch and cooks. I'd like to see a follow up in the fall.👍🏻
I like your catching cook videos
I just caught one today weighing 84lbs

Those fish are interesting as heck! They also fill the freezer fast! Great video!
Where in Missouri is this
Awesome catch! Love the excitement you had when you caught that fish. Little kid in a candy store!
That's pretty wild!
Enjoyed watching that. Never seen a spoonbill.

Great job, we used to catch them at Kentucky Lake below the dam!
Man that is awesome. I would love to see you try this on a lake.

Sure hope ole Rebel Dog got a taste!
I think Rebel Dog has probably earned a steak all to himself. Lol
Just a bit of info: The limit is 2 as you said but the possession limit for paddlefish is also 2.
No its not possession limit is 4 but fish are supposed to be labeled and not kept on the boat when fishing a different day
@@waynetucker3393 you better check the MDC regulations. I have friends that got tickets for having more than two in possession.

Awesome way to utilize live scope, no sense in having tools and not using them.
👍👍
