      India has nukes as a deterrent there is nothing else to add to that, India needs to tackle poverty which the government tries to swap under the carpet, the Chinese did that first other thing comes later,
      The difference is China doesn't have the problem of elections,

    Some experts say that Indian Navy is the strongest arm of Indian defence viz-a-viz other countries (For, e.g. Indian Navy better matches neck-to-neck against China than, say, the Airforce and Army). Some experts also chastise the lack of a clearly defined role for the Indian Navy in the national security set-up. We need a modern streamlined Navy to counter external threats.

    Great episode, sir. It’s great to see India securing its maritime borders and enforcing laws in order around its territory, which is much needed, and has been missing in all 60-70 years. India in general needs a solid watertight fool proof safety policy in every which department, whether its armed services, submarines, ships, or even general day-to-day civilian life like your home, electricity, etc. fire safety, etc. it is the utter disregard for rules, lack of discipline and lack of compassion for others lives, which is causing these accidents even among the general population.
    The current crop of Cricket team, excluding Ashman and maybe perhaps one or two seam bowlers nobody would find a place in either England, Australia, South Africa, or New Zealand teams - they’re that bad. Time to can top 5 and start afresh. Most of these ipl types are only goodwnuff for 2 hour entertainment and not classy test matches.

    I hope the Indian govt gets a great deal for the French subs. Don't forget, French-Australia relationship took a big hit when Australia broke a contract to build French subs by going with USA-UK consortium to build nuclear subs instead of French diesel subs. Yes nuclear s7bs are very expensive but are said to be superior. So if diesel subs can do what India wants to achieve with them, they better negotiate a great price.

    Dear Shekhar Gupta, in the context of this episode, I recently saw a movie called Charlie Wilson's War starring Tom Hanks. It is a truly fascinating account of how a junior congressman from Texas assisted the mujahideen in their fight against the Soviet Union. The catalyst was Pakistan and Zia. Its amusing that a failing/failed nation has so much power and influence on a super power. I'm wondering how much influence a true and emerging superpower would have. It would be great to have your thoughts on this subject in a future episode.

    • @petermathews1515
      @petermathews1515 Год назад

      Read the book by the same name. It is factual. The movie glosses over numerous facts to make it more entertaining for the average American who doesn't GaF about geopolitics. After that read the Grand Chessboard by Zbignew Brezinski, who is one of the godfathers of the Neo-cons who run the deep state. If you don't want to read either , I will give you the TLDR : a true and emerging superpower would have Zero/Zilch/Nada/0 influence on USA.

    In a stunning display of insensitivity and disregard for the plight of his own people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen to jet off to France while the northern part of India grapples with devastating floods and its citizens suffers under the burden of inflationary pressures. This callous act showcases a complete lack of leadership and highlights Modi's priorities, which clearly do not include the well-being and welfare of the Indian population.
    While homes are being destroyed, lives are being lost, and countless individuals are left stranded in the wake of catastrophic floods, Prime Minister Modi has shamelessly chosen to abandon his responsibilities and leave the nation in the lurch. His actions reek of a leader who is disconnected from the suffering of his people, demonstrating a shocking lack of empathy and a failure to grasp the severity of the situation.
    Adding insult to injury, the Indian economy is plagued by soaring inflation rates that have pushed the prices of essential commodities beyond the reach of the common man. Yet, instead of addressing this pressing issue and formulating measures to alleviate the burden on the struggling populace, Prime Minister Modi has opted to prioritize his international image over the economic stability of his own country. His decision to prioritize personal interests over the welfare of the nation only exposes his incompetence and inability to address the concerns that genuinely affect the lives of ordinary Indians.
    A true leader is one who stands by their people during times of crisis, guiding them through adversity and providing them with a sense of hope. However, Prime Minister Modi has chosen to shirk his responsibilities and neglect his duties by indulging in a lavish overseas visit. This absence of leadership during a time when his countrymen are crying out for help is a glaring testament to Modi's lack of compassion, integrity, and dedication to the well-being of the Indian people.
    One cannot help but question PM Modi's priorities. While he claims to champion the cause of the common man and promises to uplift the nation, his actions speak louder than his words. By gallivanting abroad while his own people suffer, he reveals that his primary concern lies not in alleviating the suffering of the Indian masses but in bolstering his personal reputation on the international stage. It is a display of self-interest at the expense of the nation, a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the people.

    The problem is that Indian cricket team selection is still beset by a colonial mindset...carry with the old guard until they themselves stop playing on stilts !!! Firstly modern cricketers are tuning their game to suit IPL needs. Not sure how many of them even play or interested in playing Ranji trophy..the traditional breeding ground for test cricket. Selection is still old style ...players have to play for a certain period before they can be selected. With so many IPL players, why can't they fast track them in to test cricket and see who can adapt ..after all we have a large bench. Same issue with fast bowlers...why not pick the ones who have good pace and make them learn test cricket on the job !!!
    As one can see test cricket has changed...teams are making big scores or getting out for very low scores...there is no consistency as few have the patience and skill to hang in there and play the way test cricket used to be played.
    Solution...go with the times...bleed more IPL players..more all rounders ...and a few traditional batters if you can find some or fast track some from domestic cricket.
    FAST TRACK PLAYERS AND CHURN THEM IF THEY DON'T PERFORM ....IS THE WAY TO GO !!!

  • @paddysubramaniam1481
    @paddysubramaniam1481 Год назад +3

    Happy Birthday Sunil !! Wishing him good health and happiness.
    You can say Gavaskar and Tendulkar are two sides of a very rare and precious coin that Indian cricket followers were fortunate to call it our own. Both scored heavily in Test and Domestic cricket...have similar stats. Gavaskar showed his peers and future cricketers how to face and score against super quick fast bowlers of his era who are still revered as the greatest fast bowlers of all time (for India, Chandra was probably the quickest at the time !!). He was also an excellent player of spin ....cannot recall any other opening batsman in history who could play pace and spin equally well. Technically he was too good ..he knew where his off stump was and knew which balls to leave and which ones to play. He could bat all on kinds of wickets .. those that offered bounce and seam (like in Australia), seam and swing (like in England and NZ) and the medium bounce and seam (like WI).
    His famous off the toes flick to the boundaries and on/off drives are eteched in my memories.👍👍

There has been so much violence in Bengal during the last couple of weeks. But you have been maintaining a thundering silence about this topic.
    I recall that since 2019, your viewers have been requesting you to do videos tracing the history of violence in West Bengal politics, dating back to the period of mid 1960s, when Naxalbari rebillion started and late sixties for two decades, violence reigned supreme in Bengal.
