Every human being has an inherent created value and addiction or getting paid minimum wage doesn’t disqualify them from being treated with respect. Life isn’t easy and just because you had the luxury to purchase a house, have a degree and support yourself, it doesn’t mean others have not been trafficked, served in the military and left with trauma, suffered extreme mental illness or worse. This culture we live in constantly pushes us to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps and “figure it out.” You wouldn’t do that with someone who is physically injured. You wouldn’t kick an injured man on the ground and tell him to get up. But we do that to people who are mentally, spiritually and emotionally drained. With the injured man, you grab him on your shoulders, you give him physical therapy until he is strong enough to run on his own again. Stop being disconnected from your community and show compassion. The strong should be supporting the weak to become strong again, not laughing and ridiculing them. Shame on you. Shame upon all of you for creating this world.
