I saw you cut the damper door .. how did you get out the rest of the damper. That shit is thick and most of times I run into cement behind them.. great job guys from one chimney guy to another
Ovviamente una cappa ed una canna fumaria liscia regolare con curve dolci e progressive e senza punti scabrosi aiuta molto il tiraggio di un caminetto. Intervento molto intetessante.
This is awesome. I have an old chimney that failed safety inspection many years ago that has a damper built in to it and they wanted to charge an arm and a leg to fix it by dropping a small flexible duct into it because they said the current smoke chamber/ flue couldn't be repaired.
The top mounted damper you installed at the top of the flue, does it seal 100%? Or did you set it so there is an air gap letting the carbon monoxide out in case the homeowner forgets to open the damper? Thank You!
@@drmechanicalchannel7641 that’s all good seeing the smoke when it’s a wood fire! This is a gas log/fire where there will be no smoke, just carbon monoxide that has no smell or smoke, and the carbon monoxide will be spilling back into the house and potentially poisoning or killing the family if they don’t open the damper! Hopefully the lead safety mechanism melts and the damper pops open if they forget to open it. And hope they have carbon monoxide detectors. Code, has to be a vent opening so gasses can escape the home at all times with a gas application.
Heat is the factor here, that means before installing the gas lag set, the system needs to be fixed and up to the code. Wood burning systems produced more creosote compare to gas burning systems.
All chimneys must be code compliant, which is like saying, I saw unicorn with wings, and it was singing the Star-Spangled Banner. You’re just not going to see those so by doing what they did here they are ensuring that the system is up to Standard.
Great video lot of dirty work very helpful thank you

Well depends on what you want. An open burning will never produce the amount of btu output as a wood insert will.
What's the price range for the services that you provided in this video segment....
Beautiful 👏

Thank You!
It’s supposed to fully seal. If you forget to open the damper you’ll find out right away when smoke is all over your house inside.

@@akaredcrossbow isn’t that why Darwin’s law exists?
@@drmechanicalchannel7641 yes, but someone’s mistake shouldn’t be another’s downfall.
@@akaredcrossbow where does code say this btw? Just curious to see cuz I haven’t heard of that.
Did the smoke chamber really need all that work for just a gas insert? How much creosote is produced from a small gas log like that one?

Wood burning systems produced more creosote compare to gas burning systems.
Also to add to your note Chimney Guy, Incase @John Clayburn didn't know, the client may one day want to convert back to a wood burning fireplace.

What is in that pump sprayer used? Was it just water or some type of cleaner?
Just water.
@@thechimneyguyla thanks. I want to start my own business. Do I need to be licensed for chimney repairs? I only have hvac certs
@@drmechanicalchannel7641 Good for you. Yes you need to be licensed contractor.
@@thechimneyguyla so just a general contractor? And an LLC?
Useful
👍👍👍
How much did you charge the client for this work?
It all depends on how tall is the chimney, if the firebox needs work, condition of the crown. You can call our office for more info.
@@thechimneyguyla The question was, "how much did you charge THIS client". Would give us a ballpark number for any chimney job. Thanks.
