I love your videos soooo much! You are so likeable and knowledgeable. Thank you for all of your hard work to help us! Awkward question, what does someone do when they never went to school but have mediocre skill levels and are looking for a job. I can’t boost up my skills on paper and I know I can always improve but when you need the job now and you didn’t do college and live in a smaller city what would you recommend??
For people applying to jobs in Europe, it is important and good practice here to include a photo on your CV, there’s even countries that disregard your CV if it doesn’t include a photo (such as Germany and Spain)!!!!
In Germany I think it's slowly changing, so it's more acceptable to leave out a picture. But standard procedure is still to have a professional picture:|
OH! MY! GOSH! You, Miss Lady, are IN-credible! What incredible and practical information. I've been alive since dirt was discovered and have never been told so much information in one 'conversation'! You my new favorite candidate resource! Thank YOU!!!
I love all of these tips but one thing that frustrates me is that every career coach type youtuber always gives the same advice and it just doesn't apply to people like me. They all say to add figures/numbers/stats and I'm an administrative assistant. I DON'T HAVE that type of info to include in my resume. There were no sales, no increased profits, no projects, etc. And the types of jobs I'm applying to aren't looking for things like that, they're looking for what I've done. Can you please make a video for people in my situation where the whole resume is basically a list of job duties? I really needs some guidance on how to make those bullet points sound better, be more concise, be more coherent, all of that. Thank you so much for all that you do!
I liked your way how you talk, the positive energy and the sense of humor you have. Plus to all of that I got what I need to know to enhance my resume. Thank you so much and Great Job!👏🙌

I'm so glad that my current resume follows almost all your points! It's a killer resume and has received many compliments by job advisors and recruiters. It's bright and eye catching but very clear to read (I'm an illustrator so I believe it should have some creative flare) One thing I dropped from the working experience section is the exact dates/months of each experience. As a creative alot of jobs were contract based or just wouldn't work out very well, so I had to quit. Resulting in having months-long gaps in my resume where I was unemployed. It attracted attention in many interviews, were I had to explain myself and say that I worked as freelancer in between, so the recruiter wouldn't think that I drop jobs all the time, when in reality I wasn't. So now I only have the year and all the experience, projects etc I've done within the year as independent sections. Seems to work quite well as no one has questioned me since and it looks very nicely organised and full.
I get really frustrated because most of my experience for the jobs I am looking for comes from 4 plus years ago. I have had "filler" jobs since then to pay the bills. But if I leave out my recent jobs it looks like I haven't worked in years! So I have no idea how to include all of this without having a 2 page resume. Ugh.

I tried the functional resume some years ago, but with 30 years of experience and a lot of different skills (my industry is tech), it became very unwieldy, difficult to specialise for particular role-types and it requires a recruiter that is themselves ahead of the game, with a brain between their ears, and that is a small minority - let alone the hiring team in the end-client - it's a good mental exercise to do and worth it, and for some it will work in getting a job. Also, if you listen to lots of other CV advice out there, where they say don't list what you did, but what you achieved, the functional model doesn't work very well...

Keep it simple. Then you said to put as more information as possible in skills/experience. HR loves less information, so this one is so confusing. It could be better if you have an example of CV in video, cause it's so hard to imagine how it should look like...

Amazing video, thank you so much! ❤
I really hope you go to heaven for how many people you helped ❤️ Thank you Erin
i freaking loved this video!! you broke everything down so perfectly i could actually wrap my brain around everything! I just cannot find the free templates you were talking about at the end of the video? I searched the whole description and cannot find a link or anything anywhere:(
Keep it simple. Then you said to put as more information as possible in skills/experience. HR loves less information, so this one is so confusing. It could be better if you have an example of CV in video, cause it's so hard to imagine how it should look like...
I'm 16, going into senior year and not even looking for a job yet but for some reason I'm putting together my resume 😅
Thanks for the advice
And thanks for interview
and
Excellent video!! Just wondering about adding a hobbies section... I heard once it's a good practice to show them that they are dealing with real people and not robots.
Light-years are a measure of distance! 😝
