Evan Longoria Baseball Catch Reporter Breakdown - Real, Fake or Mandela Effect?

- Originally I made this video to show different reasons why the video is lead to be fake, ...but it started a whole different debate in the comments relating to the Mandela Effect! Join in on the conversation below with what you remember!
Over many years of this Evan Longoria baseball catch video circling around the internet, many people still do not know if it is real or fake.
The Rays are taking batting practice in the clip, though there is no batting cage at home plate, no coaches hitting fungos, no music blaring over the stadium’s PA system, and the reporter is way too close to the field.
-Snopes.com
the video is probably an ad for Gillette, because the logo of the company is shown clearly in the background of the video, and Longoria had done ads for the company before.
-Mashable
CBS cites as evidence of the video being fake the fact that the reporter is not given a name, that there is no television channel logo anywhere in the video, and that no channels claim being the owners of the video, despite its popularity.
In addition to the ball, the Gillette logos in the background were also generated by computers. To date, Gillette has never publicly acknowledged if the video is real or was staged.
10 years later, however, Longoria acknowledged in a interview that the catch was staged.

I Got this video on my pc ,before yt was popular , the lady is dark skin also
I even remember her smiling after he caught it and her looking at the camera to see for her reaction this is so wierd bro wow
I remember clearly that it was a blonde girl that interviewed Evan Longoria. ChatGPT remembers it too. I asked ChatGPT to describe the events and this is what it said: " Certainly, I can describe the events as best as I can based on available information:
The incident involving Evan Longoria and reporter Kelly Nash took place during a live interview at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game, likely before my last knowledge update in September 2021. Here's a general description of what happened:
During the interview, Kelly Nash, a reporter, was positioned near the outfield wall or dugout area to conduct the interview with Evan Longoria, who was a player for the Tampa Bay Rays at the time. As the interview was underway, a baseball was hit or thrown in their direction at a high speed.
Evan Longoria, showing incredible reflexes and athleticism, managed to reach out and catch the baseball just inches away from Kelly Nash, effectively saving her from what could have been a potentially dangerous situation. The catch was both unexpected and impressive, and it quickly became a memorable moment in sports broadcasting.
This incident highlighted the quick thinking and reaction skills of professional athletes and the unpredictability of live sports broadcasts. It's often remembered as an extraordinary and heart-stopping moment in baseball history.
Please note that specific details of the interview questions and answers may not be readily available in public sources, but the focus is generally on Evan Longoria's incredible catch that prevented an accident during the live broadcast. If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to ask!"
After this, I asked if it really Kelly Nash or Emily Austen or a black girl interviewer, and this is what ChatGPT said.
" I apologize for any confusion earlier. The incident you are referring to with Evan Longoria was indeed an interview with Kelly Nash, not Emily Auster, and there is no information to suggest that the interviewer was a black girl. Kelly Nash is a white female sports reporter, and she was the one involved in the incident where Evan Longoria made a spectacular catch to save her from a baseball that was headed her way during a live broadcast.
It's possible that there may be some confusion or different memories associated with this incident, but based on available information, it was Kelly Nash who was the reporter in question. If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to discuss, please feel free to let me know, and I'll be happy to assist you further."
Why is a different interviewer shown in the clip? What's the point?
my chatgtp claims that its dont have any information about this particular video. But I saw it zillion times earlier. It was no doubt white causasian reporter..so..its; a) socio-psychological experiment of RUclips b) quantum re-entanglement of consciousness (quantum system bonded to specific neural net made of atoms that exist in superposition across parallel realities c) Temponauts are changing the timeline d) realities are occasionally fusing 2gether

She was never blonde guys, this is a classic case of a false memory. Our minds are so powerful and fascinating but our memory is not photographic its a big jumble of things you remember so its a lot easier than you think to mix them up. Definitely suspicious!
Looks like there’s an odd cut right as he catches the baseball.
It's because the catch was faked
What looked weirdest to me was the reporter not moving. I don’t know how, in real life, anyone could just stay still like that. Even if you were too late to avoid getting hit, your reflexes would force you to move.
I had this happen to me today. A taxi almost killed me. Traffic was completely stooped at an avenue, the light red, so I started to cross the street in the middle of the block, and all of a sudden a taxi gunned in reverse missing me by less than a foot. I jumped to get out if the way as a reflex, but it all happened so fast I don’t know if the jump saved me or if it was after the fact, but I had no choice but to jump.
The catch was fake. Probably CGI'd in afterwards. There was no ball coming towards her so she wasn't alarmed.
@@ewalltMan happened the same to me 20 years ago. Same thing except that it wasn’t a cab but same life saving reflex. I still don’t know how I managed to avoid it.
@@bast874 I enjoy hiking, and the same reflex happens from time to time there too, where something will cause me to jump (like a bird or a small snake - it hasn’t been a real threat). There’s a part of our brain that’s hard wired to react before we have the ability to be consciously aware of what’s happening, which is a good thing because if we had to wait until we were conscious of it, it could be too late.
Because it was staged
The reporter must have been blonde and white. I recall the curl pattern on her hair so vividly.
Something just doesn't add up. 🤔💭

@llifyuh, yeah? He still did it. He still caught the ball with his bare hand. Just might taken multiple tries to get it that perfect
If this video is fake, can someone provide a link to the original video where the reporter has blonde hair? Because I can't seem to find it
She never had blonde hair 😂 there possibly was a commercial with a similar scenario in the 90s and thats why people are mistaking it now. But more likely they are simply mistaken. I watched this when it came out and remember the lady as black with black hair. Thing is when you hear and see so many people say they „remember” it as if she had blonde hair your brain subconsciously creates that image in your head. Hence it sometimes tricks you into it being the other way. There other much more believable and actually partly-proven to have been changed mandela effects which exist but this is nit one of them.
@@willatano1464she literally did omfg you skeptics are so got damn annoying, she was literally a white blonde haired woman, the original video was edited a couple years ago to a black lady.

I'm sorry, but as of my last knowledge update in January 2022, I don't have information about an incident involving Kelly Nash and Evan Longoria. My training data includes information up until that date, and I do not have access to real-time updates or current events.
If this is a recent incident that occurred after my last update, I recommend checking the latest news sources or online articles for the most up-to-date information on any such event involving Kelly Nash and Evan Longoria.
You are totally right! I saw that too!! Gosh... what is going on
I remember seeing this on some Sports Center compilation but can't remember the reporter's looks. In 2021 Evan Longoria admitted it was fake, kind of disappointed but not the worst I've seen. Gillette could have come clean and even had some fun with it, "Boy that was a close shave" but did nothing. Anyone remember McDonald's response to the decomposing hamburger? They came out looking better, that's what big PR firms are paid to do. No one likes getting fooled.
Yeah I agree, they definately should have ran with it
If it is a Gillette commercial, they did a shitty job advertising their brand. Why not have him wearing a Gillette jersey, or hat? Or just Gillette coming across the screen after the catch? And like what's the plot? Our razors = inhuman reflexes?
Got you watching it over and over and over. You must go buy Gilette now.

They don’t do night batting practice, especially in a minor league stadium. Both here.
They certainly don’t do day OR night batting practice without a batting cage OR catcher. Neither are there.
MLB teams would never authorize an interview down the base line DURING batting practice, for this reason. Everytime an interview happens on the field, a team PR would have to approve it.
The reporter never came out to talk about it, because she’s an actress.
The television station never came out to talk about it, because it’s a skit.
Evan Longoria never actually talked about it, because the reporters around him know that it was a staged bit.
Thank you, totally agree!
... ok, the easyest answer to unterstand!!! Thank you!!!
As a kid in the 60s I'm watching a major league game on TV. There was a mix up that led the pitcher to throwing while the catcher was in the squat, but not ready and looking down. The batter is in the box, but not yet set, reaches out and catches the ball.

Also tv markings for names and things are added. Its not on the original film so it doesnt make sense to use that as evidence that this was fake. Also it may not have been standard practice time so the typical things dont have to be on the field.
It was of Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria catching a foul ball barehanded during an interview with ESPN reporter Kenny Mayne. The video went viral and Longoria was praised for his quick reflexes and awareness.
The video was taken on May 5, 2011, during batting practice for a game between the Rays and the Chicago White Sox. Longoria and Mayne were standing in the dugout when a foul ball was hit by Rays teammate Matt Joyce. The ball was headed straight for Mayne, but Longoria quickly reached up and caught it with his bare hand.
Mayne was surprised and grateful for Longoria's save. He said that he was "in the zone" during the interview and didn't even see the ball coming. Longoria said that he was just glad he could help.
The video of the catch was posted on RUclips and quickly went viral. It has been viewed over 19 million times as of April 2023. Longoria's catch is considered one of the greatest saves in baseball history.
