A note for anyone reading this before doing the video (and my future self doing the video again!) When Adriene says just one more minute on the shoulder- tapping plank things, she doesn't mean it literally so don't give up at that point like I did!
Got very frustrated with this one and felt very weak, so I stopped about 9 minutes in and scrolled through the comments. I saw so many people expressing similar feelings and made it all the way, so I actually kept going--and then I did my first side plank EVER! Oh my gosh! I feel stronger than ever now! Thank you YWA community!!!
Keep trying and your strength will improve! When I started Yoga last year around this time, I couldn't touch my toes but now I can, for 21 breaths. Just be persistent and enjoy the challenging Yoga journey!
Is it just me? I always do the breathing opposite - exhale to go down; inhale to come up.

my upper body has always been the weakest part of my body, but ever since I started doing yoga with Adriene I've noticed my arms getting so much stronger already. I did everything in half plank today except the last bit, but i'm still so proud of myself because I know this is the start of a longer journey. Thank you Adriene!! Namaste

Me too 🧘🏼♀️ I couldn't even manage half push ups when I first started - I practised standing up doing it against a door, it really helped to feel where your supossed to be engaging 💪🏼

I found this frustrating because my kiddo was awake and climbing all over me. I am committed to a full year of yoga so I did it. But it was not great. May revisit this one tomorrow.

I angry cried in the middle of this because I was so frustrated and just sat on my knees in namaste because Adriene said I couldn't get down on myself while bowing to the light. Grateful for this positive community.

Day 3 - Embody. One of my routines after completing a YWA practice: reading the comment section and looking for comments that are similar to how I feel during the practice. Don't let your frustration discourage you. You can do it. If not today, one day you will. I still remember how frustrated I was the first time I did this practice 2 yrs ago. My arms were shaking, my knees were burning. And today, repeating this practice for Day 3 - Embody, I can feel how much my body has changed. I can do side plank smoothly without bending one knee for additional support.
Day 3 embody here as well! This one was hard for me, but I stuck with it. Getting stronger!
On my third solid month and the strength I feel is so empowering! It’s not easy but I am learning to trust myself and know my limits! Love you Adrienne!
Day 3 of Embody for me too. I did MOVE in Jan/Feb and grew to look forward to my time on the mat (for me around 5pm). Upper body is a challenge for me but I found I could just about manage this on my knees and feel I could come back and practice this one a bit more. So many other yoga practices leave me frustrated and feeling disheartened but Adriene you have a gift of loving encouragement for us who are learning late in life. Thank you! x
I do the same thing! I finish the practice, then like the video and come and scroll through the comments. It's very validating. (But I only ever read them after, not before- so I don't get discouraged if it's a toughie. Lol.)

UPDATE: my right upper back neck side is on fire it’s been bothering me all day.
i did this several months ago and gave up halfway. this time, i did half plank almost the entire time and my arms gave out at one point with the full plank. but i did the whole thing :) progress!
Day 4 June 20 Courage - Did it look perfect? No, but it felt good. Like I was waking up my body. I’m approaching day 70 and am on my fourth calendar in this time. There’s no way I could have done this practice at the start. Thank you!

With my left arm still sore, and my body seemingly lower on strength, I still managed this, even a fair share in full plank. Still, I was a little discouraged afterwards until I read my comment from two months ago when I expressed the difficulty then as well. So now I am quite happy because my arm is not feeling as good as it did then but I finished the practice. Don't give up. Pause if you need to.
Embody day 3. 515 days in a row with Adriene.
Here for breath day 18 - found that really tough and could not do it all but I’m here, I showed up, I did it and I’m excited to only get stronger! Namaste everyone 🙏🏻

Same. But we did it!
Keep doing yoga, you'll get stronger! When I first started, I could hardly hold even down dog for very long. My wrists would hurt and I thought I simply had weak wrists and that it was just going to be that way for me, but I kept going to class, not expecting that to change really. But it did! Everything gets stronger. Keep doing yoga and come back to this one an a couple months and see how you do then! Then try it again some time after that and see how you do then! You'll notice differences. I've now been doing yoga every day with Adriene and notice new differences regularly. So far I've listed a 30 day review and 60 day review video. I've noticed some really amazing things: physically and in many other ways as well. Some have been completely unexpected things I'd never have even imagined. Keep doing yoga! I'm convinced!!
P.S. I'm thinking of doing this one 1 time per week and other yoga practices the other days. That will really help the arm strength to up pretty fast. Who's with me on that idea?!

Day 3 Embody. Upper strength and just strength in general is something I'll continue to worm on. Yes, this was frustrating for me today, but I did it in slow and steady steps. What a did today goes towards building what I'm continually working on. A little goes a long way.
This time, last year I couldn’t even do 1 push up. I have been doing yoga for almost 1 tear already, have no idea how and when did this happen but today I did all of them. Pleasantly surprised and so happy ☺️
Day8♥️💗💗💗 upper body has been a mental and physical challenge for me. 1/2 plank but still challenging!

I'm in Houston, have been with intermittent power and without water since last Sunday night (today is Thursday) I've only missed one day of yoga on Monday because it was literally freezing in the house and there was a lot of stuff to manage, on Tuesday with no Internet I free-styled for 35 minutes (thank you BREATH yoga journey for teaching me how!), and made up the remaining BRIDGE videos yesterday when power returned. Back in the groove today. Proud of myself and staying warm thanks to these workouts. Love to all!

Balance Day 9, December 2021 :
I could feel my shoulders and abs trembling during this short but power-packed practice. All those vinyasa must be helping, since I could, for the first time, do a couple of full pushups! Proud of myself and what the body is capable of.
If you are doing this practice, it is tough but definitely gets easier with time and practice. Be proud of where you are today. Namaste.
It wasn’t as bad as I thought buy my wrist definitely feel so sore. I don’t know if my positioning of my hands need tweaking or if they will just stop hurting over time.
@@J.Ilene. I too had sore wrists when I started practicing yoga. Staying on all fours for a few minutes was also causing me discomfort. But slowly it got better with regular practice. I would recommend a few wrist stretches and Adriene's wrist care videos now and then, along with massaging your palms regularly. Good luck!

I’ve done this about 5 times now and it’s getting easier. I feel like I can do 2/10 of a press up, rather than 1/10 as it was initially. I’ll take that as great progress. Feeling good. Glad it’s only a 12 min thing 😂
As a senior yogi, I was not sure if to do this practice, but my arm strength is my weakness so I was curious. It was a bit of a challenge, but you say ‘ Have some fun ‘ Adriene, so I did my mindful senior version to keep safe but to improve my arm strength. The short breaks between were so good and I was rewarded with my favourite shark fin namaste 😃 ! I ended with my knee down side planks and 13 minutes was just fine for a short workout. WOW! Arms and shoulders are exploding! Thought about not doing anything tonight, but I kept hearing that whisper, "you can do this" from Ms. A. This was a intense workout for 12 minutes, The plank pushups were a killer and I felt it my chest muscles. Thanks Tex!
Embody Day 3- I have zero upper body strength but I did it! I even challenged myself by going into full plank for the second half. Getting stronger every day!
My arms are much stronger than they were two years ago when my journey began, but why I chose to practice in the FL. Heat is beyond me. Mission accomplished though with alittle modification🙏🏻☀️
I'm here for day 3: embody 💘 upper body strength has always been my weakest point since I've started taking notice of how I feel while doing yoga. I can't say I did all of the push ups, nor can I say I did them in full plank very much if at all. But I can say that I showed up, listened to my body (wrists especially), and tapped into my breath. 2 years ago I would have skipped this video entirely. I'm proud to say I tried, and am so grateful that I can try again! Progress, not perfection. 🙏 namaste to Adrienne, Benji, and everyone else here breathing along. We are all connected 💘

This was really tough! But as I've been sitting here in my backyard, listening to the beautiful birdsong all around me and reading comments, my body is starting to thank me. The happy chemicals from working out are beginning to embrace me. I just need to embrace it right back. I've got this! Life is good.

Noticed a crazy improvement in strength today. Didn't want a sore abdomen so I stayed in half planks after the second child's pose lol - strange how 13 minutes of activity can completely change your mood

Nearly ducked out of this after trapeze practice last night, but hard as it felt was good to have some push motions to help off-set the pull up action. Can't believe we've hit December already after starting Breath back in January 💕
When I would have told myself from a year ago that today I would be up at 5:30 and do pushups, I would have declared myself insane. But I did it.
It was a tough one and the process wasn't as nice and peaceful as it sometimes is, but now I feel so strong and proud that I've done this.

Ah got very frustrated and almost cried because of my wrist pain got too intense halfway through, had to take a second just listening then joined back in on my elbows and knees for the side planks. I almost allowed myself to be disheartened but listening to you helped me center and recover even if just a little bit. In actually proud of myself I didn't completely give up, so thank you Adriene 💙🙏

I'm proud of you too! I crunched my right wrist rushing yesterday's practice so I was scared for this one. I ended up wrapping mine before I started. But we showed up to the mat and I honestly believe we've cared for ourselves with just that.

I have CTS so when I saw this on the BALANCE schedule I dread it so much. This exercise was really tough for me, I couldn't even do the side plank properly! Still, I finished the video and that's what matter. Namaste! 🙏
I’ve been doing this practice 5 days a week in accompaniment with the Move 30 day journey and I have seen a huge improvement. I am able to do push-ups for the first time in my life! And sometimes I do waves for my wrists at the end. Thank you so much Adriene!!!!!

When you think you know how to do pushups and then you bring the breath…
First time I did this I was so confident I picked full plank from the beginning and fell on my face. The second time I decided I had much to learn and took half plank posture and brought the breath. The third time and I was breathing properly with full planks. All that time under contraction really adds up, so don’t be discouraged.
Yeah, that was a challenge . . . but I showed up and did my best. Thank you for the offering :)
Embody day 3: I was thinking of swapping this video with another one but I used my fear as a motivator, one day I'll reach a level where push ups don't scare me.

Haven't been able to do yoga for almost a week, but this morning I woke up and decided on the spot that the first thing I wanted to do was either yoga or work out! When I saw this practice was Yoga for Upper Body Strength, I was so glad I could combine both :)

Yes! Day 48- after JANUARY BREATH PLUS FEBRUARY BRIDGE- the most showing up I have EVER done for yoga!

It’s only been a little over 30 days for me. I’m feeling it! I intend to keep going as best as I can. I’ll have to skip a bit after eye surgery. No inversions. I will do day 30 😉, mindfully and very gently.
@@coastalslocal hope the surgery goes well! I think having a daily practice is helpful even if you are modifying to make it work for you. Adriene is such a great teacher. I love the movement but I love the message just as much. Keep at it! Glad we’re in this together 💜

Attempted the YWA Breathe : 30 Day Journey two months ago, but only made it 12 days which I let get staggered here and there.
Just completed this Day 3 of the YWA March 2022 Embody playlist and I'm so grateful to be where I'm at and eager to keep engaging with my body, mind, and spirit through this practice. Thank you Adriene. Growing out and up while pulling awareness and strength from within during a vulnerable time has never felt so attainable. Your videos are a good friend.

Still here for BUILD April 2024. It's been an immensely stressful week and I wasn't able to do my yoga practice every day but I did as much as I could. Have been feeling a bit weak and this was another hard one ... but I did it!

Day 3 Embody: Almost got mad at myself when I put my knees down after the first wide angle pushup then I realized I had a really long day and some nice half plank pushups actually felt good. I should always listen to Adriene.
Me too!! I felt stronger doing the half plank push ups than I would have doing the knees up, because I had extra strength to focus on my abs and arms.

Balance; December 9,2021: this was the first time I was so frustrated that I wanted to cry during yoga. I am proud of how far I have come because before I couldn’t even do a half plank so I don’t know why I’m upset with myself. I keep showing up, it’s a slow process but it will get easier the more I PRACTICE.
I was hoping for a new relaxing flow this March 3 morning, but instead... Push-ups. Welp I definitely feel stronger and more energized!
Ahhh you tricked me at the end, Adriene! I sort of hated this but at the end I felt victorious -- which I loved. I have been wanting some arm exercises and I will add this one to my weekly rotation.
