Thanks for the video! Considering one of these and was surprised it didn't clean your entire pool. Thought these things were kinda like a Roomba vacuum it knows where its been and needs to go to do the entire area. Are you glad you ditched the suction side Polaris 3900 for the robot?
It is somewhat random: it doesn’t seem to map the environment but does effectively cover the pool in two cycles most of the time - seems to rely on some heuristics rather than just wildly zig zagging everywhere. I do notice some corners that it misses often, I usually start it there on a new cycle to get them clean. The Polaris for me was kicking up debris into the water, and I didn’t like that because I always run the robot before people use the pool and so prefer the dirt to stay out of the water, especially the smaller particles.
Do you know if it will do steps? My pool has 4 steps leading out and they always seem to have dirt on them. I want it to be able to clean them as well. Thanks
It doesn’t really clean steps well, in my experience. It sometimes manages to get up on them, but generally they’re dirty. What I do is gently (to minimize turbulence) sweep the dirt from stairs toward the pool floor, where robot picks it up
Well it’s been 4 years and I haven’t had a single issue. I run it every other day for several cycles, and use it more heavily after opening instead of vacuuming. Very happy with it
You can also click those filter panels out of the 'filter basket' frame for easier hosing!
