- What is PayPal and how does it work?
The simple answer is that it's a way to send and receive payments. This video provides a broad overview of the details behind this.
For buyers, you can send payments while protecting your sensitive billing information. Credit card numbers, bank account details, and billing addresses are hidden in your PayPal wallet so that sellers only have minimal information necessary to complete your order.
For sellers there are a number of products available to process payments online, over the phone, at tradeshows, in the field, or even at your retail shop! Conversion rates and avg. order totals have been proven to increase when you add PayPal as a payment option for your products and services.

Do not trust PayPal as a seller! All it takes is someone saying they didn’t get there service or item and PayPal will charge you AND ad a fee without notifying you! This happend to me and I had PROOF that my service was provided. They said it didn’t matter because the buyer used a credit card. Completely honest with you brother…DO NOT SELL WITH PAYPAL!!! Quite informative video. Only one point, I wouldn’t recommend to any business to use single payment provider for business continuity reasons.
There is good and bad to this. Having all of your volume with one processor can allow you to negotiate cheaper rates and save a lot of money on fees. It also gets you better account managers and access to better support. However, it's definitely recommended to have another processor in line just in case something does go wrong and you need to switch over quickly.

Paypal allows automatic subscription renewal to transaction processing .They may charged you because someone else has your credit card info and email address and/or other personal info. You may want to start by contacting your credit card issuer in order to get the charge removed.
Please help ASAP.
I have been trying to setup my new account for PayPal but all in vain with response 'the card am using is not allowed for this service' yet my bank tells me other clients are using similar cards with no issues.
What should I do???
Is it a debit card, a credit card, a gift card, or what kind of card exactly? When you say other clients are using "similar cards" it sounds like it's a unique type of card in some way..??
If it's Visa/MasterCard branded there should be no issue. Are you simply trying to add the card to your PayPal wallet, or is it asking you to enter a card when you are setting up a specific feature within PayPal? It says "not allowed for this service", so for example, are you specifically trying to sign up for PayPal Pro or something like that when it asks this? Or just general add credit card?
Angell EYE As am openning up my paypal account and I reach the point where I have to link my card, so i fill in the details of my Visa/debit card and submit, that's the response I get for all cards am trying to use.
Am using Visa/debit card for barclays bank and Eco bank.
Could it be because am in Uganda,East Africa??
If so then which specific bank in Uganda has its services affiliated to PayPal so I may chose to access that.
Am in desperate need of your help because my work is @ a standstill for close to one and a half months
now.
It looks like Uganda is limited to sending funds only, so there are some restrictions with those accounts, but you should be able to add a credit card to use as a funding source for sending payments. One thing you can try to clearing your browser cache / cookies. Sometimes PayPal's site can get messed up that way, so clearing can resolve issues like this sometimes. If it keeps happening after you'll need to contact PayPal directly and see if they can help you figure out what's going on.
Angell EYE OK, thanks.
If you aren't able to get a solid answer let me know. I have contacts I can get help from, but I prefer to exhaust the usual methods before resorting to them.

Im a new seller on eBay. In fact, I just listed my 1st item today. It all looks good except for the payment method. It says "seller only accepts payment by Paypal." Obviously I did something wrong when setting up my item page. I never wanted to limit potential buyers with valid major credit cards to only be able to buy from me using PayPal. Can I revise the payment method part or is it too late? I'll cancel the sale and start over if not. Thank you.
I don't do a lot of selling myself, so it's bee a while since I've looked at the eBay preferences / settings. Somewhere in there, though, should be a section where you can adjust your payment settings for eBay payments.
It's possible they have that at the item level, too, in which case you should be able to adjust it by revising your listing.
If all else fails, yeah, you could just cancel the listing and start it again making sure to set payment methods the way you want, but I don't think you should have to cancel in order to get that done. It should be available while revising.
Thank you. Yes, I agree. There should be a way without cancelling. But I couldnt figure it out so i cancelled. Now ill try again/call them.

So if i was to sell something and when the funds got to the account and then I wanted the funds to go to a bank card or account. What would be that process
After your sale you will see the funds in your PayPal account balance. From there, you would use the "transfer" option, and this would allow you to select a bank account or a card to transfer the funds to.
if you have any money on paypal, it is best to withdraw it immediately because PayPal blocks such accounts. For verification up to 180 days
If a merchant is UNVERIFIED, and PayPal has already released the money out of my account, sent confirmation email, is my order safe? Sender did not send shipping info yet.
Hello I have a question, since I am living outside of US and trying to make a transfer to the US. Well there a fees of 4.4% + $0.30 to make a international fees with Goods and service. Is there more hidden fees that the seller need to pay? Cause where I live there is no Friends and family option so only option is just goods and service.
So I want to transfer $40 and I need to pay $42.15 to get $40 with international fees, will the seller receive that exact amount?
Here is more info about cross-boarder transactions: www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/what-are-the-cross-border-fees-when-selling-international-faq2927
You may want to consider Venmo or Xoom which may have better exchange rates.
so I don't need to add a credit card or bank account and PayPal will just store my earnings by itself? I was under the impression that you NEEDED to add a 3rd party form of banking (like the credit/debit cards or a bank account) if that's the case I've just been sitting on a empty PayPal account and receiving money though cash only and making it harder on my customers at times.
That is correct. When you receive a PayPal payment, that cash will sit directly inside your PayPal account until you spend it or transfer it to a bank or card of some sort.
It's typically not recommended that you keep a very high balance in the PayPal account, though. Just in case any account holds come up for any reason, you don't want a bunch of cash in there getting locked up.
Do u have to have a credit card to use PayPal or u can transfer straight from ur bank?
You can add it straight from the bank. However, you could run into problems without a card linked because that means you won't have a "confirmed address" on your account. This could potentially lead to sellers not having seller protection on payments from you, which could make them not want to fulfill your order. It's recommended to go ahead and get a debit/credit card linked even if you're not going to fund payments with it.
@@angelleye Okay thanks for the info. Appreciate it 🤝
Can you transfer funds from PayPal to Cash App credit card & do I need to make payments for doing the transfer & having PayPal?
Thanks sir. It is usefull video for me
Glad to hear that!
Quick question, I feel a bit dumb asking. If I link my debit card via PayPal, will PayPal take the money directly out my account that way instead of having to deposit money into the Wallet?
Yes, it will work that way. When you submit a payment using PayPal you will be able to select your funding source. That's where you would choose the linked card, and the funds would come from that card the same as if you used it directly.
Can you use PayPal without credit/debit or a bank account or do you need one?
You can, but you will likely run into limitations. Best to go ahead and get a bank/card linked up so that you can fully verify the account.

It's best to do both. Linking a bank will verify the account. Linking a credit card will confirm your shipping address.
Thanks for the information.ation
SIR, IF I ADD MY BANK ACCOUNT ON PAYPAL , IS ANY ONE CAN SEE MY BANKING INFORMATION , WELL I JUST RECEIVE ONLY PAYMENTS.....
No, when you send or receive payments using that bank account nobody can see the info. That's one of the primary benefits of using PayPal as a buyer. You can buy from all these different places, and you don't have to share any of your actual billing details with any of them.
There must be some cost somewhere along the line, I need to know about those things before I commit.
You will pay a fee if/when you receive payments with PayPal. If you are just sending payments there are no fees.
@@angelleye Is there a percentage then that paypal takes..
eg if you reiceve 200 USD
will you have to pay, 20%, 35% equivaent in your countries dollar value?
Just to reiceve 200 USD...but then really 200-20% = 40 USD ?
@@zodsinclair8500 The standard fee is 2.9% + .30 per transaction. If you accept payments in a different currency and you let PayPal do the conversion for you, they will charge an additional fee, but it's something an extra percent or two. No where near 20%.
That said, you can keep separate balances in your account for separate currencies so that no conversion is required, and save on those fees. Then you could spend the money in that same currency out of the same account, or convert it later if you want to.
@@angelleye Hey thanks man! I want to start up one & keep some US in the Account but send a portion of the received US to my bank! Can one do that?
@@zodsinclair8500 Yes, that would be no problem. When you receive a payment you will pay fees accordingly, and the remainder will sit in the account balance. From there you can move as much as you want to other places, and leave as much as you want inside the PayPal account.
Very informative however how do we trust PayPal?
For me it just comes down to risk. You have to trust somebody at some point. I would rather trust a large corporation spending millions of dollars every year to protect my data and provide secure transactions than I would giving that same data to a wide variety of different sellers, doing who knows what with my data.
FOR HOW LONG I CAN PUT MY MONEY INTO MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT? AND MAXIMUM HOW MUCH?
THANK YOU
You can use it just like a bank account, and keep as much money as you want in there. That said, I would not recommend that you hold much cash inside your PayPal account. Move it to your regular bank account on a regular basis. That way if any sort of a payment hold or issue with your account comes up, there won't be a bunch of cash in there that could get held up.
Same goes for any payment processor or only system you are using that holds your cash.
Angell EYE Someone did PayPal me and I did not have a credit card inside where did the money go?
this is again useless if you have to withdraw your money from your paypal on a regular basis
@@easyfoodchannelsa Not sure I understand your concern here..?? You can use PayPal to receive payments, and simply move that money to your bank as recommended. You can also use the PayPal account for making purchases, and use a linked card or the bank to fund the transaction. You don't have to carry a balance in PayPal to pay with it.
Please clarify what you're concern is here and I'll be happy to provide more info.
@@angelleye is it possible to use Paypal to send and receive money without linking to a bank account? Also, do you have to link to a bank account to use Paypal debit card and can you use a Paypal card to draw cash from an atm if you have money in your account? Thx.
Do you manually have to enter your card number and bank account information? Or does it automatically link itself to your account once you make a paypal?
Depending on the bank, you may be able to link it using your online banking credentials. Otherwise, it will make two small deposits into your account. Then when you see those deposits show up, you verify the amounts with PayPal to complete the verification.
For the card, you just need to manually add the card. Make sure the billing address on the card is added as a shipping address in your PayPal account so that it will be a Confirmed address.

The fact is PayPal is still the best, so yes, we highly recommend it.

Their customer service is the absolute worst. They will arbitrarily hold your money. Closed my account after 15 years never looking back
Sorry to hear that one incident made you decide this after 15+ years of successful business. Like any huge corporation, customer services can be a bit of a hit and miss scenario. Depending on who you get on the phone or the other end of a support ticket you might not get the sort of help you might expect.
That's no fun when it happens, but if you submit a new ticket or call again to get somebody else that can help. One key word, too, is "escalate". If you're not getting anywhere with the person you're talking with you can kindly request to escalate the call. This will typically get you on the phone with somebody with more experience that can answer questions more knowledgeably.
Also, I'm curious who you decided to take payments with now..?? I'm also curious about the scenario you encountered that turned into this bad experience..?? I would highly recommend that you study what happened from all angles and ask yourself if you truly feel you would have had any different experience with another payment processor. I've worked with numerous payment processors, and they all have similar policies when it comes to funding holds, chargeback handling, etc.
Angell EYE customer service is always india. Asked for a manager several times they put me on hold, then the call mysteriously disconnects. Agents never call you back so you have to waste another 30 minutes to get another call.
No other company I have ever worked with keeps your money for no reason. No other company has customer service as bad as paypal period. Stop trying to portray paypal as something positive. Your company outsources work to shitty countries, you hang on to people's money as long as possible in order to collect interest. You put more effort into this post than any employee ever put towards my account. You asked what I use now. Check or money order or cash on person no fees no bullshit. Go fuck youself and your shitty company. Here's a link to your 1 star shotty rating
www.consumeraffairs.com/online/paypal_02.html
First, I do not work for PayPal. I am a software developer that specializes in payment processing, and after working with many different payment processors I have grown partial to PayPal because they are best when comparing them all to each other based on pricing, brand recognition, ease of use and integration, seller and buyer protection, etc. If there was a better payment provider out there I would be flaunting them instead of PayPal.
They do not "keep your money for no reason." If your funds are being held it's because red flags were raised that show your account or particular transaction(s) are high risk. To protect themselves and their users they put holds on funds when this happens. They ALL do this sort of thing. The only difference is that PayPal has nearly 250 million accounts they're working with, so even when a very small percentage of people have a bad experience you're going to see more reports of it than other processors simply because of the numbers.
Check or money order...cash in person..?? You're only hurting yourself by doing that. You will absolutely lose sales if you do not provide PayPal, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc. as payment options on your website or applications.
Current numbers are showing 237 million active accounts. This page you linked has a grand total of 1938 reviews, including all of the 2/3/4/5 star reviews, so even a smaller number of 1 star reviews. That is such a small sample size it's essentially obsolete. Also, like usual, the vast majority of these reviews show that the person was clearly ignorant about standard procedures for accepting payments online no matter who you're processing them through. A little bit of general education on standards would eliminate most of these problems people are having.
If you would share some of your details I'm sure I could provide some feedback that would help you avoid similar problems in the future.
Angell EYE sample size too small bullshit. Those angry customers aren't obsolete. How many million examples would one need.
Here's one example. My account has zero dollars. An item I want is starting bid $1000 I'm willing to go as high as $1400 so I put $1500 in my paypal to cover shipping as well. Five days later I win the item and with shipping its $1150. I pay immediately and try to move the 350 balance back to my account. But my account has now been flagged, my balance held for 21 days. Why? No other company withholds a person's own money. I must have called 20 times on that one instance over the 21 day hold. I was given different answers at different times ranging from you'll just have to wait to it will be in your account within 24 hours. No accountability with them. Also if you don't work for them don't spew their policies I'm sure their legal dept wouldn't like that
You still haven't shared any information about your scenario that you're upset about. You say to do a payment gateway with actual bank. Well, if you do that you'll be paying a lot more in fees than you will with PayPal, UNLESS you happen to be doing a lot of physical card transactions through a point of sale terminal. If that is your situation, then yes, an Interchange Plus type of account would be better. In that case, though, I would recommend Braintree as it will be much better than a local bank in most cases.
To say PayPal is bleeding money shows your ignorance. You're on here under "No Name", using lovely language, and you obviously don't know what you are talking about. PayPal is bleeding money? Their financial statements show billions of dollars of free cash flow which they've been using to acquire other companies for billions of dollars and still have billions left. I'd love to be bleeding money that way.
The reason there are so many bad comments in places you mention is a two part thing. First, as I already said, PayPal has nearly 250 million active accounts. Even a very small percentage of complaints would look like a lot if you go digging for it. Also, it's very unfortunate that people like yourself go around talking all this trash without any true knowledge of what they're talking about, further planting false information in people's minds when they had a bad experience. It's a shame, really. Again, if you go with a local bank gateway and the same situation happens you'll end up in the same exact boat if you don't change your procedures to avoid whatever happened, which you won't tell us about....which is telling.
I'm not blindly ignoring any negative. I am here to help people avoid the negative. As I mentioned before, I am only partial to PayPal because in my experience of using over 50 different merchant providers to process hundreds of millions of dollars for clients, they are the best. If another company comes along and can give me a better product and service than PayPal I would gladly utilize their tools and help people to see those advantages as well.
what if PayPal gets hacked
The odds of this happening are very low, and they have withstood the test of time. They have many people trying to hack them every day, of course, and they've been unsuccessful.
The only successful "hacks", which is pretty much true for any system these days, comes primarily through social engineering. This is where people will reach out to your personally one way or another, and trick you into giving up the information they need to get into your account specifically.
In the unlikely case that PayPal's system was directly compromised, I would treat it like I would losing my physical wallet. Any credit/debit cards that I have added to my account would need to be canceled and replaced immediately. My PayPal login/password would need to be changed immediately.
That said, if you follow the procedures I lay out in my other video about how to protect your bank account, you won't have anything in your PayPal wallet that is vulnerable anyway. ruclips.net/video/BfzpvvmWlSw/видео.html
Still, the same procedures could be taken to clean up any mess left behind from such a hack.
So, the answer is that you need to do some planning ahead, which you're already doing, so that's great! Take a look at the other video I linked above, and feel free to comment again if you have any more questions or concerns.
PayPal joined forces with sweepstakes, publishers,Walgreen,Walmart and many more that have yet to pay.the public should know of.
It would be the one of the greatest computer hacks of all time......
Can i sign up without a credit card and buy things online without shipping and stuff
Can you seperate your paypal balance from credit card balance. I want to start taking drawing commissions but I cant yet legally own a credit card, and I dont want to interfere with my parents card yet I want to earn money. Is there any way that would work?
If you are not yet 18 years old then you cannot open a PayPal account either. As for the balances, your card balance and PayPal are completely separate from each other.
Could you switch off the background music and get a better mic?
Yes, we'll be improving that in future videos. Thanks for the feedback!
switch off that backgound music please.......
We'll certainly look to improve that in future videos, thanks for the feedback!
Please switch it off!!
Can you get Paid if you don’t have a bank account(by others)
You can't, but not having a bank account linked means your PayPal is not verified, and this can cause problems for you in general.
It's recommended to go ahead and get an account linked up. If you're worried about that, take a look at this article I wrote on how to protect your bank account: www.angelleye.com/paypal-quick-tip-keep-bank-accounts-safe/
Man you're the best 😍😁🤙😇, OMOBADAN TI SORO NI O!!!!

paypal were a living nightmare for me, avoid at all costs
This sort of claim is not worth much if you don't provide details of the situation that makes you feel this way. If you care to elaborate I can probably help you figure out what went wrong so that you can avoid it in the future with PayPal or any other payment processor.
Here is some details I tried to receive a payment, paypal csr's screwed up the transfer and couldn't fix it this almost cost me a 5000 job because I had to refund the money!!!! I have a small business, this almost destroyed me! Paypal is flawed and customer service does not care at all!!!!!!!!
