I lost my stitching MOJO for 10 or so years. Got involved with quilting but still loved cross stitch. Then recently started watching floss tube videos and got hooked again. Right now I'm trying to finish a Hawaiian design of tropical flowers surrounding the islands. I started this year's ago and now I NEED to finish this. So thats where I'm at.

When I loose my stitching mojo, I switch to quilting. Another way to get your groove is go to LNS and look at patterns and threadwork in the shop. That works for me. I love watching your videos. You stitch my style.

Thank you for another great video Grace. You have beautiful stitching and finished pieces!! I tend to stich in the season because I enjoy that, but at the same time I stitch what I want, when I want. Your Mom's Sarah Moon is a treasure. She's so beautiful. Nice to keep it in your family.
Meeting Max was awesome!! He truly looks like a sweet little guy! Looking forward to your next video!! Glad that your lost stitchy bug was short lived! 💗

Grace I was cruising they Flosstube and just happened to see your fabulous video. Max is to adorable for words, such a sweetie. I was blown away by the Rose quaker, it's so beautiful. I'm always in love with Prairie schooler and just love that piece especially. The piece you saved from you Mom's stuff is so beautiful. Yes, I have lost my stitchy mojo, first time I sold everything, not a good idea. If a stitchy piece is not talking to you, put it in time out. Relax, then look at all your stash, pick something new. I really enjoyed your visit, thank you for taking time to share.

Thank you Grace (love your name) for sharing yourself, your honesty, and your stitching with us.
I am newly back to cross stitching (started in 1980s) after a career in appliqué quiltmaking….book author, travel teaching, etc. For me cross stitching is exciting and new. I kept my interest going through a 30 year career by exploring new avenues. At first it was getting a good overview of my topic, then I explored quilts from different eras, learned the history of the place and times…first in the US and then in Europe. I guess what I am saying is explore and stitch and even design for yourself using borders and motifs commonly used from different places and eras. I promise it will open new horizons. Only stitching/repeating designs already stitched is only one avenue open to you in cross stitching.

Grace, such a wonderful flosstube, your have a lovely personality - thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to film! Your stitching is absolutely beautiful, thank you for showing your Rose Quaker, it's one I've started and put aside, yours is stunning and inspiring. Your antique sampler has a castle - that is so cool! And I think during your busy work 4th quarter, you should be kind to yourself - only work on projects that give you peace. And yes, add in some smalls here and there, they are very satisfying!

I do not think anyone has ever shown Moira Blackburn-Three things sampler in Flosstube and my ears/eyes perked up because it was one of my first biggie samplers to stitch back in 2008 while watching deadliest catch on TV😂 Have fun with it if you ever have a go. About losing your stitching mojo, I wouldn’t worry about it. You may just need a break. It will come back to you. If you want to give it a boost, I’d recommend focusing on a project to finish it by the end of the year. It will feel soooo good to have a big finish, that your mojo will spring back to life in a big way. 😊

Your huge sampler is amazing, Grace! Max is adorable! The Lady in the blue dress is so beautiful, what a wonderful friend your Mom had! I understand so completely about losing your mojo. I am also a quilter, and before I retired I designed, pieced and quilted quilts for 5 different fabrics companies for over 10 years. Now that I quilt for myself, I find that I have lost my mojo. So I have been stitching instead like a crazy woman and enjoying it so much. I thinks it’s just been the break that I need, and I feel I will get back to enjoying quilting again soon. It is comforting to know that someone as talented and experienced as you are, can make mistakes too. Makes me feel like I am not the only one and that it is normal. 😊 The Margaret Williams is amazing, love the colors. How do you chart an already stitched piece? Love your work, Grace.

Hi Diane, Thank you for your wonderful comments and telling me about losing your quilting mojo! Sounds like you had a lot of fun and a great career with fabric companies! I guess we all lose that mojo at some point. I used to scrapbook and read like a crazy women. Now, I am right there with you, stitching like a crazy woman!!! How do I chart an antique sampler? I downloaded a program and it is one stitch at a time. It is time consuming, but it is so fun to see an antique come to life again in a pattern.

@@paisleystitcher1243 Lol, you are a woman after my own heart! I have to hand it to you, charting an old sampler like that would be extremely time consuming but so rewarding in the end😁. I designed quilt patterns with software also and loved it. But again, time consuming. I guess answer to the mojo is (for me anyway) trying to find balance in what I do. Adding some variety keeps me going. I recently tore the meniscus in my left knee playing Pickleball, (which I love and currently really miss) and that’s when my cross stitch fever really took off. Trying to make lemonade as they say. But I know eventually I will be back at the courts. I plan to do my first Sampler soon- Winter Rose Manor by Brenda Gervais. Wish me luck! ! Have a great week❤️

I can relate to losing your mojo. My work leaves me so stressed most days that I really have trouble stitching when I get home during the week. Long hours and I commute on top of it. It's easy to loose your desire to stitch, especially when a mistake happens that has to be corrected. Starting something new can really help. However, for me, I find it hard to go back to the one with problems. I have a WIP that I started in 2017. Haven't touched since 2017 because it's heavy with Kreinik and there is a major mistake to frog. I want to get back to it but everytime I almost have myself talked into it, I think about the frogging and change my mind. Someday, though!!

Max is a precious sweetie! Thank you for showing him. Your stitching is absolutely beautiful! Please don’t be too concerned about losing your stitching mojo…it’s just something that happens at times, and in my opinion is just part of the natural ebb and flow of our stitching journey. It’s okay to take a break, and you’ll come back refreshed. 🙂
I enjoy your calm manner, and the way you present your pieces to us. Grace, it almost sounds like the Smith Sampler was out to get you, LOL! I don’t blame you at all for wanting to restart it. Once in a FlossTube video, I heard someone refer to putting their project in craft prison ! That made me laugh so much! 😂 I’ve certainly wanted to do that to a few of my pieces! i love that Prairie Schooler chart, it's on my wishlist! What a beautiful finish! And more beautiful finishes! in terms of stitchy mojo, I have a personality that makes me go hard for a few weeks and then I slow down for a few weeks, when I'm in the slow down period where nothing is scratching the itch, I tend to take a few days with zero stitching. sometimes as soon a 1 day later I miss a project and go back to it, other times it takes longer. Or I just start something I'm really looking forward to! I often remind myself that stitching is a joyous, calming experience for me, and if it isn't that, I need to take a moment away! There's no shame in that, especially ugh, I make mistakes and instantly want to refuse stitching on the project again! It's not that big of a deal but as you say, the big girl panties need to come out sometimes.

I have ADHD and crafting seems to be feast or famine with me. Either I am hyperfocused on my projects and work work work on them or I ignore them altogether. When I lose my stitchy mojo I try to make myself put one thread into a project a day. That seems to assuage my guilt and sometimes it kickstarts that mojo again and I put more and more effort into things. This happened to me last week (hyperfocused) and then this week I just sit and stare at my projects while watching Floss Tube. I am currently doing one thread a day (and writing that into my Book of Days, which helps) and waiting for the mojo to return.
Lisa/Kindred Stitcher just showed her completed Hoity Toity on her latest Floss Tube. I know what you mean about the difference in color! I liked the DMC palette better as well. It seemed brighter to me. Maybe you could start the DMC and then hold them up side-by-side to get a better idea before you get too far into restitching it?

I did the same thing (except it was 2 tiny pieces of hard candy "fuzz")! Arghh! Since I'm so far along with it (Let Love Abide by La-D-Da), I decided to add a flying leaf in one spot and perhaps a tiny bee or butterfly in another to cover the spots. It happens, girl! I haven't reached the point of losing my stitching mojo as I've only been stitching for about 16 months, but I almost did when that happened! Max is adorable! Thank you for sharing your beautiful stitching - it's certainly inspired me and I've saved a couple of your charts to Pinterest for future purchasing. It's common to lose our mojo so I tend to work on a different craft until I get the itchy fingers for starting some new stitching and then I get going again. I too find that if I make a mistake, such as you've shared where a project is off slightly, that too is very good at knocking me off track. One day you'll feel like getting your sleeves rolled up and moving on with the same project and then we can all delight with you when you jump into action again. Hi Max! What a sweetheart. I used to have a Dachsy named Max too. He was a sweetheart too. Now I have Ollee a black & cream & Charlee an English cream. I’ve lost my mojo periodically too. I keep doing what I know I love at a slower pace & the excitement catches up again eventually. Watching videos like yours helps a lot too!

Hi Candee, Max is a sweet heart! We’ve had several dachshunds and he is one of the most mellow. You have a black & cream and an English cream!? Nice! Are they long hair or smooth coat? Do you have pictures of them in Instagram? So glad to hear the stitchie mojo comes back! Normally I need to stitch everyday.

Your floss tube is so informative; your work inspiring! Plus Max! I can relate to stitching ups and downs. Not sure of the cause, yet at times my downs reflect a lack of energy due to life issues where energies are redirected. But then it returns. Stitch what brings you joy and relaxation. Have a smooth fourth quarter. 😊

Other floss tubers have lost their stitchy mojo and I have never experienced that, but I would say "go with the flow" in the sense that do something else and take a sabbatical from stitching. Look at your stitching every once in a while to see if something attracts you. Look at your stash of designs and if something there attracts you, go ahead and start it - no guilt about how you have so many WIPs - obviously, they are not doing it for you at the moment. Sure hope you are enjoying your stitching now. It looks like it. Loved seeing all your finished items. Smalls are sometimes used as a "palate cleanser" when doing large projects.

  • @reneebebla422

Love all your finishes and WIP’s. When I hear coffee and protein bar, I held my breath. My approach is to take one sampler and stitch on it every day for an hour and then stitch what I feel like. I feel seasonal charts now but then there is also Dark November, can you tell where I am going? All over and then you mentioned The Old Scot, my oldest WIP and it’s almost done but doing it on 34 count with 2 strands and now do 4 or 46 count with one thread. But really need to get that done. I was at Hobby House Needlework a few weeks ago and I got some really nice linen, you definitely need choices. Your samplers you got are beautiful, is that a globe on the Dutch Sampler? The colors are stunning. Happy Stitching
