First video of the Family Handyman I've watched. Its a brilliant video, short precise and with wise info that will save many people time and money. This guy should go viral, not just for his advice on manual work, but also on how to make the perfect RUclips advice video. And, no advertising, why? I think most people would be only too happy for the Family Handyman to make some money from this. 💪🏽👍🏼
I need to dig exactly one post hole for a Little Free Library that I want to set up. I've watched a few of these videos and they've all convinced me to pay someone to do it.
In the process of digging sixteen holes right now. Hence, sat on the loo watching RUclips videos. I started with the heavy clamshell digger. It makes the siting of the whole more accurate. The extra weight is not an issue as it helps with the momentum when thrusting downwards = ooh er. However after a few digs the soil turned too rocky. So over to an all metal trenching shovel I bought years ago and had in the back of the shed. It has a metal shaft and is heavy, which means you use it’s weight to dig the hole. Then, on my hands an knees shovelling out the soil with my, now soggy, linesman gloves on.
it looks straight forward but every time i have attempted to dig a hole as soon as you dig i get constant stones and building bricks and to get them out you end up with a hole the size of a crater,
Dude relays the same amount of information in 3 minutes that other videos take 20 mins to explain.
Thanks, legend.

Yeah it's not worth buying those expensive tools just for one post anyway. I've got 15 posts to do myself.
I’m sorry but that made me laugh 😆. I don’t want to do it either!!
Pansies. Hire a Mexican.
for anyone reading this.... if your soil has no rocks, it is a breeze! (granted i am 29, but not in my best shape and hate doing "gardening" work)
I can already tell you've saved me a ton of hassle (and aches). Thank you!

Does that work well? I'm digging in clay right now and we're fighting that last 6" hard. Got to 5'6" today 🤣
Thank you, your holiness
Yes, Your Holeiness are very kind.
Great advise! I will definitely be doing this for my next hole project! Thank you!
This guys the man thanks for the advice
So simple and explanatory!
Thank You! 🤓
I’d add a pike pole to tool list. It’s weight along loosens rocky soil etc.
16 pound tampering bar. Works really well and should be the third tool along with the 2 he said.

Why did this sound like a Rick and Morty episode I watched?😂
Thank you so much worked perfectly
Lucky me. Florida sand.
thanks!
Great video
When it's time to sharpen the blade, which side do you file? Inside or outside?
Sides.
YOU FORGOT A DIGGING BAR.
Lol. I do it that way now. 6-61/2' pole holes. I'm looking for a better way
Good vid !
Yeah, I'm going to just dig a wide hole with a trenching shovel. That way I can dig around a bolder or a tree root..
My soil have lots of tree roots. How to cut through them?
Sharpen a spade with a file or grinder.
Araldite sticking metal to wood, I don't think so, far too brittle. Better of with a more flexible glue.
How far is he digging
All the way to China 🤭
the Fiskars diggers are about 11.8 pounds
Gonna bury my dog when he passes… 😔
