So many great characters wrapped up in one film. Everyone brought something to the movie. Mahoney, Jones, Harris, Tackleberry, Hightower, Hooks, Callahan, Lassard, Proctor etc. The Franchise works so well, cause everyone played their parts so well. Tackleberry was always my favorite tho.
It's sad how much of the cast of this film has passed away. Marion Ramsey (Hooks), David Graf (Tackleberry), Bubba Smith (Hightower), George Gaynes (Commandant Lassard) are all gone now.
When i was in the correctional officer academy there is always that one gung ho guy/ Ex Military like tackle berry but it’s great watching them Progress through the Academy because they doing everything 110% meanwhile others do things only 70% just to pass. They are great to work with.
Have to laugh at everyone saying how badass Tackleberry was by not ducking for cover, but it was a simple case of knowing the weapon. Barbra hadn't pumped the gun after the shot. He could have pulled the trigger a million times after that and nothing would happen until he cycled the gun.
That is true, but usually safety measure and rules state that you always have to assume the weapon is loaded and ready ti fire when handling it. So the others naturally ducked when Barber unconciously pointed the shotgun at them as they should. But Tackleberry didn't.
Tackleberry is the gun guy for sure; doesn't duck & flinch when a fired but not pumped shotgun flags the crowd, runs immediately for cover and flanks the enemy, and knows to take cover behind the engine block & front wheelwell of the car. Good man, promote him to Sergeant!
I love how Tackleberry earned Harris' respect in the strangest ways! Harris even attended his wedding to Kirkland in the 2nd movie, but you could only see the back of his head!
In the background while Tackleberry is going crazy, Blankes and Copelands expressions are funny. Copeland looks horrified and Blankes is shaking his head in disbelief.
And I also really love the way the rest of them are just standing there with smiles on their face in the background behind, blurb her butt and are just watching tackle berry do what he does best and it is funny as hell
Tackleberry's first shot is actually pretty clever. No one even thought of simply sneaking up on your target from behind. He should get an accommodation for original thinking.
Only Tackleberry passes this because he is the one who made a surprise attack, attack from behind and know where to cover. Not just walk straight and then become a target in plain sight.
