    I saw a big pickup truck trailing a nice looking boat when I first came to America. That have become the definition of American Dream for me ever since and I have achieved it after 10 years of hard work.

      Autos Fan I'm gonna assume that area of water is very shallow since they don't give details.

      @@jdmozee12 yup, i launch at two ramps, one very steep and shallow my f250 the bed is is half way in the water. Second ramp is my favorite to use when parking is free. Once the trailer goes past the ramp it bumps down and the boat/skis start floating with ease, the truck only had the wheels in water. Just be confident in yourself and 4lo helps too when your in the drink!

      @@jdmozee12 it doesn't matter when you have 4 wheels in the water you could easily lose traction especially on dirt!

    Have they never heard of boat launch etiquette? Prepare your boat in the parking lot (straps gear drain plug.) then launch it.

    This is one of the best guides I’ve seen, I was trying to tell my wife about the cut and following it didn’t make much sense when I said it, but when she saw your diagrams I think it helped. Thanks so much

    Never undo the front winch completely until your boats in the water. Nothing like having your boats slide off the trailer on a steep ramp.

  • @tundrabasser
    @tundrabasser 4 года назад +1

    Truck bed is washed now. Need a snorkel to launch there:-) don’t undo the bow strap without someone in the boat and at a busy ramp do all the prep work except the bow strap off the ramp and out of the way:-)

  • @delboy2596
    @delboy2596 9 лет назад +13

    And run the boat engine before it leaves the trailer. Otherwise you could have a very expensive rowing boat.

    props on the set of nads it took to go that deep with the water lol.. when it only takes some inches of water to start to move a car in a flood... who knows how much more it takes to lift the back of a truck in calm water.. haha GittYaSome!!

    Never take the front wrench off.

    • @FreedomTalkMedia
      @FreedomTalkMedia 6 лет назад

      Yeah, what if the boat slips off the trailer before it hits the water because of the angle of the ramp. Ouch, that would be. This would almost surly happen if the trailer has rollers on a steep ramp. As soon as it started going downhill the boat would just go rolling right off and smash the stern into the concrete.

    • @erichoffman8521
      @erichoffman8521 5 лет назад

      Yep. I've seen it happen on a steep ramp and/or with bunk rollers - slips right off.

  • @benjaminowen6181
    @benjaminowen6181 5 лет назад

    Also, if your truck has 4 wheel drive it'd be a good idea to engage that right before the trailer enters the water. That way you'll be less likely to slip tires on the ramp going down or up.

  • @Clam73
    @Clam73 9 лет назад +1

    Wow...that must be a really shallow ramp to have the truck go that far back. I only deal with saltwater ramps and they're generally steep enough so the back wheel hardly goes in the water.

    • @SelmerVidz1
      @SelmerVidz1 9 лет назад +3

      +rmikeyp73 It was a combination of the level of the lake being low (thanks to a broken dam), a shallow ramp and a big boat. I didn't expect to have to go that far either, but it worked out alright.

    Awesome video, just like to add one thing. For etiquette purposes, don't wait till your immediately at the bottom of the ramp to take off all your straps and put your plug in, etc. At a busy ramp, this is RIDICULOUSLY frustrating. Prep your boat completely in the parking lot, or you may just find your truck all keyed up when you get back.

    I remember once while retrieving our boat, I hooked the bow clip and tightened it. I told my wife to pull forward and the truck slipped backwards. I said "Put it in DRIVE"! That's when I heard this demonic voice emanate from the cab of the Dodge... ""I DIIIIIID!!!"" She tried again and again, the truck went backwards.... Not wanting to hear the Demon voice again, I said, Drop it into 1 and try again! I won't publish the curse words I heard, but the truck pulled the boat out of the water easily. I climbed down off the boat and she got out and slammed the door... "This G'damned Truck hates me!" in the same demonic voice... OoohKayyy.... Sorry dear.... Next time we'll just put it in 1 and four wheel drive to begin with...
