Meitei women shave heads, take out cycle rally to mark one year of Manipur violence

In a display of solidarity and protest against the ongoing conflict in Manipur, seven Meira Paibis from Awang Sekmai in Imphal East shaved their heads on May 3. The day marks one year of violence that erupted in the state last year.
The move by Meira Paibis was made to express resentment towards the prolonged strife in the state and also to pay tribute to the victims of the violence.
Draped in black, the women then took out a bicycle rally from Sekmai to the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal, demanding the protection of indigenous people and the territorial integrity of the state. Numerous supporters from the valley also joined the rally which echoed calls for peace in the state.
Simultaneously, Meiteis living across the globe, including Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, the Middle East, California, Australia, and England also expressed solidarity on the anniversary of the violence. They demanded justice and restoration of normalcy in their homeland, urging the Indian government to intervene and safeguard the fundamental rights of indigenous communities. The Meitei diaspora also urged the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to identify infiltrators in the state.
The violence that erupted on May 3, 2023, has claimed the lives of at least 220 individuals and displaced thousands.

Not everyone is the same. Even as a Meitei I hate those who did that to the kid . I don't know what were they thinking . And in this war too , only about a Lakh Meiteis (out of 15 Lakh plus Meiteis) are going to war . People in the front line are complaining that Meiteis in Imphal and central areas are not helping . Not that everyone love this war. I am not saying that everyone going to this war is evil , lots of the people do that out of necessity as there is war . If they don't defend ,everyone will die . As expected there are always evil people in a society so some people will turn out to be very rude . I heard that they were not burned alive but killed by the mob and they burned the dead body . But I dont know how no one saved the child
