Love watching you and Harley progress! My guy is one year older, but I got him at 4 as well. It’s interesting to see some differences between UK and US. I didn’t canter my young guy until 5. And now at 7, he is finally able to keep a rhythm and balance. Like you, I wanted as young as I thought I could handle to avoid all the potential downstream issues of an older horse and unclear history. I’m lucky my guy is very chill and easy going - very little ruffles him (although I was dumped once during an unanticipated spook!). Wish I had the vid history you have with Harley! ❤❤❤
Nice to see Harley again. He's certainly grown and looking better in his neck stretch. Don't they make you spit when your ready for an event and they have other ideas. 😅. In my experience with limited youngsters, getting out hacking and just general activities are the best lessons. Yes, they go through 'silly' stages, but all part of growing up. He's looking great. ❤
I really appreciate your efforts to do the best by your young horse ! It’s been wonderful seeing you you open your heart to him and see your relationship grow. I, really happy for you and grateful you are willing to share so much !
I have a request. Could you please do a video about the logistics of working (and living?) in London and having a horse on livery? I live and work in inner Melbourne (state capital) and plan to finally end my horse's long holiday and have him as close as possible. My brain is struggling with the logistics of it all and seeing what you do might help. Thanks so much. I enjoyed this video. Harley is so awesome.
Hi! That’s exciting for you. I can certainly think about the best way to do this. Perhaps a “week with me” video? I am conscious that much of the reason I can do what I do is due to full livery and not having dependants and being financially independent, which I know is not the case for everyone.
@@RidingWithRhi A week with me would be great. My child has flown the nest. It would be part livery for me. However, I still think that I could learn from you.
After your experience with Woody, do you find that lamenesses (or even just "not quite right" moments like the one in this video) are more anxiety-producing for you? Or are you able to compartmentalize and understand that this is a different horse, and come at it calmly?
Great question. If something actually happens, I’m calm and pragmatic. But I find I have a *general* level of heightened anxiety. I’m extra cautious, I find it hard to not read into tiny things like a trip or a warm hoof - case in point!

“Seeing you open your heart to him” - what lovely sentiment. Thank you for your lovely words ❤️

He has definitely grown. Hopefully he is sound ❤
Ahh I think so too! Happy to report he’s 100% sound and happy! An abundance of caution later, we all seem ok ❤️
