Ooof, nearly 10 years after this video was made and I still don't own this beautiful machine lol, just two digital versions of this game on PC, one in Stern Pinball Arcade and one in Virtual Pinball. It's just not the same as doing it for real though. Sadly, never even seen this machine in real life, either.
Also wish I could see him play more machines

I’ve stayed away from Trek pins all my life because the theme wasn’t my thing. However, once I played THIS ☝️, I have to say it’s probably thee best pin on which to start a noob.
It’s not only got different colored lights for each mission, making it nigh impossible NOT to know what to aim for, but the mission PANEL at the bottom is equally simple to understand.
The shots are ALL satisfying & it’s recently moved into my Top 20 all-time. Boy did I miss out on some good years playin this! 🤦‍♂️

Excellent tutorial! You should make a new version of this with the updated code.

@@casedistorted fixes bugs, changes scoring rules, add new audio and animations. It can also change how modes influence each other.

@@tristanwegnerHi, Tristan. I’m a new owner of TSPP, and the chipset is 4.0. I know there’s a 5.0 by Stern & someone on ebay purporting to sell the upgrade.
Here’s my question and I’d be mighty grateful if you could help me: HOW does one “upgrade” the code? Do I get a physical ROM chip and have to tear out the old one & solder in a new one? 👀🤷‍♂️
I’m a BOZO w electronics and I’m deathly afraid of frying my machine. This may all be easier than I’m fearing. I appreciate any info/help! 🙏✌️

@@Mo_Ketchups I have not done it one Pinball machines, but upgrade the fireware on other hardware devices. It typically comes down to downloading the correct file, putting in on an empty USB Drive, plugin it and powering the system up. Sometimes a special button combination is needed to start the update. It is typically quite easy and has never failed me. The only risk a power outage during the minutes the update takes, this can fry it.

Something I noticed in your strategy. When the ball is moving slowly you capture it in a flipper to stop it. When the ball is moving quicker you strike it with the flipper. From my own experience this is a good idea, one I will have to adopt. When the ball is moving faster in my experience it is harder to slow down. You can loose a ball trying to slow it down at times.

The way you move the machine around would trigger a tilt fault on any machine I've played.

Generally, in all pinball games, I try to anticipate when the ball is about to thread the needle down through the game field to try to blast by my two main flippers to end my ball play - and when this happens, I explode the flippers early, and 40 to 50 percent of the time, I am successful and the ball is still in play, and after that, I use your "keep your ball in control" technique so that way I do not end up with the "end-of-ball" situation which can cause your end-of-ball bonus to go way too low.

Don’t be afraid to shov it a little. You will likely get a danger, but it’s a ball save

How do you control the ball without losing it- sliding off the end of the flipper, for example?

Hey Korg, I'm guessing you mean when trying to trap it and not having it roll over the tip of your flipper.
There are a few techniques we've seen, but it's definitely more of an art than a science (and also depends on what the ball's doing). The most common method we've seen used is to do a "Tip flip", where you give the ball a tiny flip right at the end of the flipper just before it rolls over the edge. This normally gives the ball enough of a bounce for you to be able to catch it on the opposite flipper.
      Hope this is helpful!

So, I watched this video and I've learned. I have learned to be patient, not to panic when the ball, or balls, come at me and keep on furiously hitting the flippers for no good reason. I have learned how to use the flippers to make the balls come to rest and how to do a "dead bounce". I have learned not to be a wuss and be a boss. I have learned!

I'm confused why the game ended during multiball. You still had another ball on the table.

It's kinda funny how ear-ringingly loud Stern knockers are. You just hear him speaking, sounding nice and everything, then suddenly, POP!
Whatever the case, This has to be a good Stern pin in a long while, in my opinion.
