Seriously.. wtf Lenovo. They couldn't take 5 mins to extra design the laptop for easy access to the fan? My laptop fan been making noises and I have to disassemble the whole thing..
Got old laptop for cleaning/OS install from family. Disassembled it, removed dust, reapplied thermal paste, but temperatures didn't improved much. It got from 65C CPU just running bare desktop to 55-60C. Z580 reviews say that it should be around 30C. What's wrong? I'm not very familiar with laptops, since I use desktop, but maybe it's power management issue, or something?
I read somewhere we require Philips No. - 0, 1 blades for this.Could you suggest a screwdriver set ? Last time I used a screwdriver, but it was not as long as yours. So, when I try to open the second screw after opening the lid it does not reach there.
this seems like a silly question, but it seems like the only way to get to the fan is by disassembling the entire laptop, is that right? I have the Z580, and my laptop's long due for fan cleaning, and I don't really have any experience in completely disassembling my laptop to clean it, and it looks like in order to get to the fan, I have to completely disassemble my laptop, which I'm too afraid to do...
Yup it's the only way, I just did it, fan was last thing i could unscrew from the whole laptop. I was doing it first time but laptop works, you just need some time and patience not to breake anything. Also watch at cables because i had 1 extra he didn't have in his computer.
My Lenovo Z580 also have a problem of hinge arm from where it's get a little raised.....& it will be raised more in future ...if I use It..........I am very afraid to open my Laptop.....

NO !!! you can do a lot, more easily. Just remove the single screw which holds the big panel, and slide it out. Then you can access the fan blades and remove a lot of the dust & fluff. It's obviously not as good as a stripdown, but made a huge difference to my Z580. An "air can" is useful but you have to dig most of the dust out. A pointy piece of thin plastc, or similar, will do.
In the end I managed to get it out, but man, that thing is pretty durable, I think it was pretty much at a breaking point. I´d hate myself if I broke the keyboard, it is one thing I really like about this laptop even though it is so old.

Thank you for this vid! Helped me so much. A bought a kilogram of dusted was found.
The worst part of this video is the eerie silence.
The first piece you removed wireless card?
What is a white solution you apply after cleaning the fan?
Its called "heat sink thermal compound silicon cooling paste"
Thank me later 😎
the procedure in question can also be applied in the lenovo ideapad z480?

just remove the keyboard and the back and clean the fan. It's a better idea then opening the whole thing and messing it up i broke the hinge.
Thanks a lot
