Wah Siddhant bhai! Thanks for sharing this. I'm a western and classical trained singer (still learning BTW). You're right that in Hindustani classical singing there is no such concept of head voice or falsetto singing. Even in Taar Saptak, which is primarily a head voice register, practitioners pull their chest voice, but practitioners such as Nusrat Fateh Ali khan sahib and Rahat Fateh Ali khan sahib, Sonu Nigam Ji, and Hariharan Ji, just to name a few great singers, do use head voice and falsetto selectively where it sounds good. Just to clarify for viewers, falsetto is not a register, such as taar saptak (C4 and beyond) where head voice is used after F4 or F#4 for most males. Falsetto is a technique in which you use light compression, which sounds very light and airy. Heavy compression when used in taar saptak is head voice which is strong and you can sing loudly. You can tell the difference in the tone of the voice. Head voice and falsetto are not nakli voices.

I love to sing along with Nusrat but the higher notes are very difficult, for me and I have been singing since 1982,Blues, reggae, but since 1998 I started learning Indian Classical, and actually Dhrupad Bhimsen Joshi, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Mehdi Hassan key and style is so much more relaxed and natural for me, I can sing very high notes, but only after much Riyaaz and Practice, I am just a student and wow I am so grateful to have found you and your online classes.. Wow Master Saleem, That for me is what I have heard in Punjab, that's for me Panjabi style, all so beautiful

Pruthi ji... I really learned a lot today... like u said some people tend to sing in falsetto bkoz they have practiced it so much... or maybe sang in that voice.. my problem is.. I can't get rid of this even when im singing classical also.... can I get a tip/help for this from you please sir...?
Thank you Sir. When I talk, my voice is deep toned, but I sing in very light and sweet tone and people are surprised.. telling me that they can't guess I can sing so well by the tone in which I talk.
