The third founder of GW gives the book one star on Amazon. "I’m John Peake, the co-founder of Games Workshop with Steve Jackson. Having read the first thirty or so pages of Dice Men I realise I need to tell things the way I remember them."
I am so glad that Martin Legg was mentioned in this book. He is an amazing artist and he painted few of my High Elves miniatures. A must have book for every Warhammer fan.
That is so cool! It would be a great coffee table book in the middle of my nerd room
Dude I'm loving these little historicals youve been doing. The historicals and inside tabletop... outstanding 👌
It's 49% off on Amazon in the US right now. I ordered it immediately after watching the review.
Thanks for the heads up!
I had a copy of Rogue Trader (First ed 40k) straight out of high school. I read it so much that it fell apart at the bindings. I actually had it in a bag for awhile. I'll have to check this out. Thanks for the review!
The hardcovers are notorious for falling apart because the paper and page quality was so high they were too heavy for the glue!
If you are feeling nostalgic they are reprinting that original Rogue Trader rulebook. Made to order, orders only open for a week.
NEW INTRO IS SICK!
Steve Jackson reminds me of Robin Good of the Bee-Gees. Thanks for this review, Ash.
We'll never see a D.I.Y era like that again, going to have to get a copy of it!
Just ordered this book off Amazon. I love these kinds of books on the origins of RPG and fantasy wargaming. I've always loved classic 80's era of Games Workshop/Citadel and White Dwarf magazine. Had that British vibe that set it apart in tone from American stuff like Dragon Magazine. When WD went GW only I was disappointed back in the day as they did great D&D stuff. The art was a huge part of it. Great video!
I love this book! The stories are super interesting, but for me the main draw were the photos. They really are witnesses to the times!
Very proud to be an alumni of Keele University myself!
I got into wargaming last year, but been part of the community simce back in the 90s and loved this review. will get one. thanks Ashel❤❤
Great read. I need a volume two by Ansell & Kirby.
Great stuff - plenty of amazing stories and artwork in there - I also have the white box edition of WFB, it's seen better days but hey, so have I.
A Saturday morning book review! Love this.
I had to back this when I saw it was being crowd funded, and got my name in the list in the back. Its a fantastic book, as long as you remember that it is the perspective of the two authors.
I like how they fell into a vat of chemicals and came out… different. Best Origin Story ever.
Awesome!
Backed way back on unbound. So glad it got published/made. This book is a real treasure trove.
Super cool!
💯
I think my local comic shop still has a few copies of this, I might have to pick it up
Am I crazy or is it early early early morning??
1/3 of gw founders find this book fiction 😅
