I just got one of these mills and need to build the rail system anyway so your mods are good to know.

    Hello!
I wanted to say thankyou very much for the video review.
I have wanted a sawmill for a long time, and honestly cannot afford most of what's on the market. I spoke with Hud-son the other day and I think I will go ahead and order this mill -- based mostly on your review.
Thankyou for pointing out the modifications that can be made to make it saw a little bigger tree. I will do the same to mine once I get it. Everything is back ordered due to the virus.

I found a mobile home frame and have been making similar modifications. When finished the track will be more like an 18 ft. sled that can be skidded on and off of a 20ft trailer and be moved for easy clean up. The trick is to build the support braces for in between the 2 I-beam's so as they bolt on to minimize tweaking from excess welding. I am using 2.5in. drill casing and 6x6 1/4in. flat bar welded on the ends and bolting the 2 beams together staggering the braces top then bottom every 2ft. The track will then be bolted onto the top of the I-beams.

@@meganhansen2889 I looked for a mobile home frame myself. I found a usable trailer frame from a camper that gave me a good platform. Nice to be mobile!!

Great modifications. I bet every one of them is perfect. I mostly cut 2/ material with my mill.
    Milling is great fun!
(I've only put up a couple videos. I think I'll add more...need to encourage more people to mill)

I just finished getting my sawyer set up. The blade has noticeable bounce where it comes across at the top, but looks nice and stable at the bottom where it cuts. Is the bounce up top supposed to be there?

There is always a little flutter of the blade on top. Blade tension is what corrects the amount of flutter. Make sure you have the correct tension on the blade and check it again after a pass through a log.

@@QualexCustoms how do you tell if your tension is correct? Use a tool or just by the deflection when pushing on the blade?

@@clayjones553 Set the tension bolt/nut to 35 lbs with a torque wrench.
