Defensively… not happy. I think we’ve conceded more goals in the past 4 games than in the first 13 games. Robbo is done at this level; Gomez has done well stepping up but with Ibou at back we are a different animal defensively.
Other than that our squad mentality is immense. Spot on about Slots tweaks throughout and that has been the difference between some results with Klopp at times and now with Slot!
Big win especially with the results around us

Just like 5 years ago, this game has me convinced we'll win it this year, we're just an all-round team with so many matchwinners. And this with quite a few flaws in the team. I actually thought Robertson had a good game going forward, but there was one instant where he completely took out a player because he arrived oh so late that proves yet again that his legs/timing have just gone. Imagine what this team will be like under Slot once we have a new LB, another CM and a replacement for the passenger Nunez (swap deal with Gordon?), and a full preseason of training for everyone. The future is bright.

@cjewe1z thing is I can't imagine anyone paying even close to what we paid for Nunez, so a swap deal with an FFP restricted club would be our best bet to get some value out of the deal. As a squad player I think Gordon would be ideal as back up to Jota

Agree that we need a signing in Jan to help rotate with Gravenberch. An injury to him because of his having to play almost every game is not going to help with the title hunt. While Robbo may not be at his best, so much focus on him will just make the opposition attack from his side as they will see him as the weak link. I think the Referee/VAR today went some ways to spoil the game too. They stopped the game and spoiled our momentum at times when they should not have. And for VAR to take like 4 minutes to check. That was crazy.

I think sometimes you have to credit the opposition. Ayew's turn and shot was pretty sharp and I wouldnt attribute too much blame to Robbo for it. Ayew could have turned tye other way and shot into the far corner which is presumably what Robbo was anticipating. I actually thought Van Dijk should have done more to cut the ball out before it got to Ayew, and should have kept track of Kulsevski for Spurs second - and was even "on the scene" for Spurs' third (Solanki) goal. But it all seems to be about Robbo at teh moment and I'd hope David you can steer the conversation in a balanced way....He hasn't been flawless this season but isn't why we're repeatedly conceding in recent games. The negative I'd have mentioned is the refereeing. I don't recall a VAR scrutinizing every potential infringement in the lead up to a goal to the extent that happened yesterday. I hope Liverpool raise it. Kavanagh was the VAR, as he was for Rodri's non- handball. A coincidence of course....

@davidlynchlfc fair enough and thanks for replying. Really enjoying the content.
I agree there is no place for Núñez in the squad going forward. Not so much because of his lack of end product, but more the lack of intelligence. Arne is clearly a very tactical coach and if you don’t even have the language skills to receive the instruction you don’t stand a chance of carrying it out. It was a lightbulb moment for me watching Macca’s interview with Lineker - the guy spoke no English at all when he got to Brighton and is now fluent. After three years Darwin’s few interviews show he still has very little English
I’m hoping they are just nursing Jota back and obviously saving Diaz for West Ham. Beyond that I’d be happy seeing Nunez as impact sub and FA / Carabao Cup player, before wishing him all the best at another club in the summer

Hi David happy Christmas and new year I thought we were better in the second half and got the win in the end I’ve got to ask you this but are you now worried that we haven’t seen or heard anything about the contracts and we are only now 5 days away from all three of them allowed to speak to teams outside of Europe and sign pre contracts with other teams I really hope we have some good news on that soon because I don’t what the contracts to be a distraction and we drop off in our performance I know we want bit there’s a little part of me that is worried that we will anyway hope you had a good Christmas and I hope you have a good new year and 2025/will be a great year for you and hopefully 2025 will be a great year for Liverpool

Thought Trent was really poor defensively and offensively, the fact he was taken off corner duty says it all.
Gravenberch desperately needs a rest, hopefully Hughes starts earning his wage and brings in a decent midfield option for Arne in January.

Good Vlog. I agree with most of your comments, but not about Andy Robertson. If you look at the Leicester goal he did what he should have and blocked the option to the far corner. There was cover on the other side from two players and if anything you could criticise Virgil for not blocking the shot in the area he was covering. (Although that would be harsh).
I also think Andy is one of these players who needs to be playing regularly. Think he has been good in recent games.
