My accordion has a stuck bass button. Your video is going to save me money in repairs. I'm a homeless retired army vet and my accordion is a great pleasure to me. I don't know how to play it yet but with so many great instructional videos on RUclips I'll be chasing away all the cats for blocks around.
I had to do this once and afterwards I felt like the accordion version of a computer hacker if that makes sense. I dread the day I ever have to get into the right side of the accordion though it seems way scarier.
Absolutely! Looking at the insides of the bass mechanism for the first time, I was like, this must be what Ada Lovelace's Difference Engine looked like. I will say - under the grille of the right side it could not be more straightforward - one key just uncovers one set of holes to the reeds. Once you go deeper, though (on either side, left or right,) the reed blocks get scary, because things appear to be laid out in ways that aren't 100% intuitive. I've cleared some stuck reeds, replaced some valves, and rewaxed some blocks that came loose, but I am yet to dive into tuning - although I did just order a set of tuning tools~

The anatomy of an accordion is a truly fragile yet wonderful thing
Thanks so much. This did the trick!

Thanks for the video! I have a middle c button (in the second row of 120 bass) that is hopping out all the time. Any ideas on how to anchor it?
Print this and carry it with you! *WHAT YOU DESCRIBE AS YOUR REPAIR IS LIKE A HEART SURGEON ENTERING THE OPERATING ROOM WITH A CHAINSAW* !
Thanks !!
